Two specific themes stand out when planning your trip to Smołdziński Las: trails in the village and historical sites in nearby Czołpino. The routes differ in type, length and destination; they include a nature and culture trail with an estimated duration, a cycling route and other connecting paths. This lets you tailor your stay around an activity or cultural interest, rather than treating all the routes as interchangeable options. The lighthouse and museum add a historical dimension to the trails.

Trails in Smołdziński Las and to Czołpino

The “Światło Latarni” Nature and Culture Trail is 5.5 kilometres long; its stated duration is 3 to 4 hours. It runs parallel to a blue hiking trail in the Smołdziński Las protection district. The length and duration refer to the Nature and Culture Trail; its parallel course to the blue hiking trail is another feature that helps distinguish the two routes.

The “Złote Piaski” cycling route is about 25 kilometres long, passes through Smołdziński Las and forms part of the international R-10 cycling route. For orientation, its route through the village and its inclusion in an international cycling network can be considered together. A black connecting trail also passes through Smołdziński Las. A 3-kilometre trail connects the village with Czołpino.

The distances can be compared directly: at about 25 kilometres, “Złote Piaski” is longer than the 5.5-kilometre Nature and Culture Trail, which has a stated duration of 3 to 4 hours. The 3-kilometre trail to Czołpino adds a specific destination to the comparison. This means distance, time and route purpose can be considered as separate criteria when deciding.

Historical and cultural sites in Czołpino

Two historical landmarks are close together in nearby Czołpino. The Słowiński National Park Museum is located in the historic Osada Latarników, dating from 1871. The Czołpino Lighthouse was designed in 1872 by German engineer E. Kummer and opened to visitors in 1994. The timeline thus runs from the date of the Osada, to the lighthouse’s design, to its opening to visitors. The lighthouse and the associated Osada Latarników are listed in the register of monuments. Museum access is seasonal; check the park’s current visitor information before planning a museum visit.

Visitor rules in Słowiński National Park

A visitor rule applies throughout Słowiński National Park: visitors may enter the park only via marked hiking trails and educational and tourist trails. From 1 May to 30 September, entrance fees are charged in the Smołdziński Las, Rąbka and Rowy protection districts. The trail requirement applies to the national park as a whole, while the seasonal fee applies to these three protection districts. Check the park’s current visitor rules before your visit so you can take both trail requirements and the fee period into account when planning.
