Swibno brings together coastal and island attractions with a strong local focus: highlights include a seaside bathing area planned for the 2026 bathing season, PTTK hiking trails, a seasonal ferry for cyclists, as well as a sanctuary and a monument. When choosing a hotel, it may help to decide what matters most to you first: the beach and scenery, a longer hiking route, a bike ride or local history.

Seaside bathing area and scenery

For the 2026 summer season, one of the nine supervised seaside bathing areas in Gdańsk was planned for Swibno. The bathing zone designated for 2026 at beach access No. 7 covers a 100 m stretch of shoreline: 50 m to the right and 50 m to the left of the access point. It extends 50 m from the shore into the Gulf of Gdańsk. The bathing area is therefore defined by both its shoreline length and its extent into the gulf.

Swibno is part of a loosely built-up corridor of residential and residential-service development that runs along the main transport route on Wyspa Sobieszewska. This corridor separates the beach, dune and forest belt from the predominantly agricultural area that occupies most of the southern part of the island. This makes it possible to distinguish the coastal belt from the predominantly agricultural south when getting your bearings in the area.

Hiking trails on the island

The Szlak Wyspy Sobieszewskiej is a 14 km green-marked PTTK hiking trail that runs entirely through the Wyspa Sobieszewska area. It forms part of the E-9 international long-distance trail, the coastal route that runs, among other places, along the Polish coast. In Swibno, the green PTTK trail ends at the ferry crossing. The 14 km refers to the full route across the island, while Swibno is its endpoint at the ferry crossing.

A hiking trail for pedestrians is also designated in the “Mewia Łacha” nature reserve. Conditions on the Szlak Wyspy Sobieszewskiej may change seasonally; check the current trail conditions before setting out.

Cycling and ferry

The Wincenty Pola cycling route reaches Swibno 11.5 km from its starting point. From May to October, cyclists can continue their ride along the Mierzeja Wiślana beyond Wyspa Sobieszewska by taking the Świbno–Mikoszewo ferry across the Przekop Wisły. Check ferry service before setting off to make sure the seasonal connection fits your travel plans.

Local history and culture

The Pomnik 100-lecia Przekopu Wisły is an obelisk marking the centenary of the Przekop Wisły. It stands on ul. Boguckiego in Swibno, on the embankment by the access road to the ferry crossing. It commemorates the centenary of the Przekop Wisły; local history also has a religious dimension.

Swibno is home to the Milenijne sanktuarium św. Wojciecha Chrzciciela Gdańska, the Millennium Sanctuary of Saint Adalbert, the Baptist of Gdańsk. On 20 April 1997, the Milenijne Sanktuarium Chrzciciela Gdańska św. Wojciecha was established in the parish in Swibno; the church was granted the title “Pomnik Tysiąclecia”. The obelisk and the sanctuary thus offer two different perspectives on local history: the centenary of the Przekop Wisły and the church’s establishment in 1997.
