When planning a trip to Gdańsk, there are several different things to focus on: the view from the Town Hall tower, boat trips, art and the parkland in Oliwa. If you are looking for a hotel, it helps to first consider which activities will shape your travel dates and interests. The options vary in their timing and focus, making it easier to plan your own sightseeing itinerary.

City views and boat trips

During the high season, visitors can pay an additional fee to climb to the rooftop terrace in the tower of the Main Town Hall. It is about 50 meters above the ground and offers a view over Gdańsk. The season and admission fee are therefore important points to consider when planning this sightseeing experience. Check the current visitor regulations before your visit.

A one-hour catamaran trip on the Motława passes the Old Town, Żabi Kruk Marina, Szafarnia, Imperial Marina and the shipyard with its cranes. The stated duration of one hour gives the trip a clear time frame, while the route also features city views and harbor scenery. This makes it possible to assess the trip based on its duration and the sights mentioned.

The ships Lew and Czarna Perła sail under the Polish flag. Their cruises to Westerplatte pass the Gdańsk Shipyard, the repair shipyard, the docks, the harbor and Wisłoujście Fortress; sightseeing cruises in the Bay of Gdańsk are also offered. The two types of trips have different focuses: a route covering the listed shipyard and harbor areas, or a cruise around the bay. Check current operations before planning your trip.

Żegluga Gdańska’s ships sail from Gdańsk to Westerplatte, Sopot and Hel. You can compare boat trips based on their listed destinations, routes through harbor areas or a cruise around the bay; the catamaran trip also has a stated duration of one hour. Before your trip, check which services are currently available.

Art and changing exhibitions

NOMUS – New Art Museum offers the “Friends from the Seaside” meeting and social space, a café, a children’s play area and a bookshop. The museum thus combines its art context with several different on-site facilities. If one of these is important to your visit, check in advance whether it is currently available.

The Green Gate houses exhibition halls featuring changing selections of historical and modern art from Poland and abroad. The current exhibition program is therefore also important when considering a visit: the selection on display is not always the same. Check which works are currently on view in advance if you want to see a specific exhibition.

Parkland and botanical design

Adam Mickiewicz Park in Oliwa features extensive grounds, distinctive trees, a linden avenue and water features. It also includes a Botanical Garden with a palm house. While the Town Hall and boat trips focus on the city and the water, the park and its botanical features take center stage here. You can choose between these different focuses according to your interests.
