Cierniki – Cycling Routes, Forests and Cultural Attractions
Accommodation in Cierniki
When looking for a hotel in Cierniki, attractions in the surrounding area and the municipality it belongs to also matter. These include a Neo-Gothic church, several nature reserves, named cycling routes and a kayaking offer. The geographical area and the particular theme help you find your bearings: sometimes the focus is on forest and bog, sometimes on a route or architectural history.
Cycling Routes in the Municipality
A cycling route almost seven kilometres long runs along the shore of Lake Szczytno in the municipality. Very old trees and the lake landscape can be seen along the entire route. Its length and lakeside course offer two different points of reference when choosing: both the approximate distance and the character of the landscape are specified for this route.
Three more cycling routes pass through the Sołectwo of Międzybórz, which Cierniki belongs to: Trzmielewo–Jeziernik–Brzezie–Międzybórz, Międzybórz–Dzików–Breńsk–Rzeczenica and Czarne–Międzybórz–Suszka. For these routes, you can find your bearings by following the listed places; the route by Lake Szczytno also provides a distance and lakeside scenery.
Kayak Tours and Equipment
A kayaking offer complements the cycling routes at the municipal level. Rzewnicka Kayak Rental organises tours on any routes. The offer includes transport and professional kayaking equipment, as well as several dozen kayaks with accessories. There is also a vehicle for transporting kayakers and several stations along the respective routes. If you have a particular tour in mind, check its availability in advance.
Forest, Bog and Walking Trail
The “Międzybórz” nature reserve is located nearby. Established in 1961, it protects an old mixed forest of a natural character, dominated by beech trees, for scientific and educational purposes. The area covers 1.64 hectares. The predominant beech trees are about 180 years old; pines, oaks and Douglas firs grow alongside them. The area and approximate age offer different measures of the reserve and its trees.
The “Bocheńskie Błoto” nature reserve is located near Sporysz. There, a transitional bog with characteristic wetland plant communities is protected as part of the landscape. The nearby “Cisy w Czarnem” nature reserve is a popular place for walks and visits by tourists and groups of schoolchildren. The walking trail, which is open to pedestrians, has been renovated and signposted on site.
Culture and Travel
A cultural landmark in the surrounding area is the Neo-Gothic Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Międzybórz. It was built in 1897. Its style and year of construction offer a specific architectural and historical reference point alongside the area’s natural attractions.
A public transport stop for Cierniki is listed in the municipal overview dated 25 September 2024. If you plan to use it for your journey, check the timetable before setting off.
