Four ponds, water basins and connecting channels form a water system covering about 8.5 hectares in Potulickich Park. The park is in the center of Pruszków and covers 23.25 hectares in total. Educational information boards there provide details about the flora and fauna of this historic park. Open water and nature themes thus come together in the heart of the town.

Parks, ponds and nature

Water also shapes the park landscape in Młochów: the park of the palace complex covers about 17 hectares, including 2.8 hectares with three ponds connected to the Utrata river system. In Pęcice, garden architect Jan Chrystian Schuch designed a 24-hectare palace park. Pęcice Park borders a 50-hectare pond area where many species of waterbirds nest. The information about park sizes provides a practical guide if you would like to include differently designed grounds in your stay.

The Stawy Raszyńskie nature reserve is also of interest for birdwatching: it protects breeding habitats for many rare bird species, as well as feeding and resting grounds for migratory birds. The Młochowski Łęg nature reserve in the Młochów forest district covers 12.04 hectares; most of it consists of riparian forest communities in the Utrata valley. Those comparing nature themes will find different focal points here: the habitats of breeding and migratory birds at Stawy Raszyńskie, and the riparian forests along the Utrata at Młochowski Łęg.

Within the wider Powiat pruszkowski district, the boundary of the Warsaw Protected Landscape Area runs within a 10-kilometer radius of the city of Pruszków. If you are planning a specific tour around it, please check the current legal map.

Cultural history and folklore

In Pruszków, the permanent exhibition “Przedświt – Mazowieckie Centrum Metalurgiczne z przełomu er” features original artifacts, film and drawing reconstructions, copies, multimedia, and games and puzzles for children. The different formats offer a variety of ways to experience the exhibition: alongside historical originals, there are also visual reconstructions and interactive elements. The Muzeum Dulag 121’s main exhibition features accounts by former prisoners and helpers, as well as historical photographs, letters, documents and authentic objects.

The Muzeum Dulag 121 regularly hosts history exhibitions, concerts, lectures, film screenings, commemorative evenings, and meetings with historians, writers and artists. Programs may change, so check the latest dates before your visit. In Otrębusy, the Centrum Folkloru Polskiego „Karolin“ invites visitors on a colorful, music-filled journey through the folklore associated with the „Mazowsze“ ensemble. Alongside exhibitions, there are also events and folklore to explore.

Routes and guidance for your stay

The nature trail along the Utrata is suitable for both pedestrians and cyclists. It features interactive educational stations, bird nesting boxes, insect hotels and a dendrophone, as well as a free-to-use observation telescope and wooden footbridges over ponds. The stations combine exercise with information about nature; the different features make the trail appealing for both nature watching and learning.

In Nadarzyn municipality, the 19th-century park in Młochów is the starting point for a cultural and historical hiking trail. From there, one route is suggested toward the Młochowskie Forests, and another toward places of interest in the municipality. These routes are presented as suggestions; check conditions on site. The palace complex in Młochów includes a palace, two outbuildings symmetrically arranged on either side of the courtyard, an orangery and an English landscape park dating from the late 19th century. The park and ponds connect the cultural and historical complex with the waterscape described above.

For travel to Karolin, there is a specific train connection to use as a guide: the journey from Warszawa Śródmieście WKD station to Otrębusy WKD station takes 36 minutes. Travel time may vary depending on operations; check the timetable before setting out. When planning, you can prioritize nature trails, museums, parks and folklore according to the themes that interest you most.
