A 200-year-old oak grove, a viewing tower above a river valley and places with a long blacksmithing tradition: Lubelski County offers many different reasons to take a trip. Nature areas, cycling routes and historic sites each have their own focus, helping you choose what to explore during your stay.

Nature, Waterways and Cycling Routes

The Chmiel Nature Reserve in the municipality of Jabłonna protects a 200-year-old oak grove. It is well suited to walks and cycling trips. In the Kozi Bór Protected Landscape Area in the municipality of Garbów, the Rejowiec and Duży Ług water bodies are part of the area, which also includes habitats for rare plants and animals. The municipality of Niedrzwica Duża offers a different kind of landscape: it lies at the transition between the Bełżyce Plain and the Urzędów Hills, giving it varied terrain.

The approximately 30-kilometre “Doliną Nędznicy” cycling route follows the Nędznica River and passes landscape features, flora and fauna, and numerous historic sites. An approximately 37-kilometre cycling route runs through the municipality of Głusk and connects to the Lublin Cycling Route; there are also several walking trails in the area. The two cycling routes can be distinguished by their described features: along the Nędznica, the focus is on the river, nature and historic sites, while the route through Głusk is also notable for its connection to the Lublin Cycling Route. There are two cycling routes in the municipality of Jastków.

Waterways are also among the places to visit: the Bychawa Reservoir and numerous fishing waters are located in the municipality of Bychawa. Those interested in landscapes and water will find a different focus here than on walks through Chmiel’s oak grove or on a cycling trip along the Nędznica.

Blacksmithing, Collections and History

The Ariańska Tower in Wojciechów was built between 1520 and 1530. It is considered the only structure of its kind in the Lublin region dating from the Gothic-Renaissance period. In the tower’s vestibule, the Skansen Wsi Głuseckiej presents around 80 historic objects illustrating domestic and rural life in the Lublin region in the past. Młyn Hipolit houses a museum of minerals, fossils and meteorites with more than 5,000 exhibits.

Blacksmithing is also represented by events and a dedicated museum. National blacksmithing workshops, fairs and festivals are held annually in Wojciechów. Every two years, the municipality also welcomes participants in the Ogólnopolskie Spotkania Kowali. Event schedules may change, so it is advisable to check the latest dates before making plans. The Museum of Blacksmithing offers organized groups a history lesson on Polish craftsmanship, as well as tours of an old forge, tools, horseshoes, replicas of medieval weapons and artistic metalwork. For these group activities, check current dates and prices in advance.

The Jabłonna palace and park complex is located in the municipality of Jabłonna. The war cemetery in Jastków preserves a different historical memory: it commemorates the soldiers of the 4th Infantry Regiment of the Legions who fell in the Battle of Jastków in 1915. Motycz railway station in the municipality of Konopnica is listed in the state register of monuments.

Views and Special Visitor Experiences

In Łysaków, in the municipality of Wólka, a ten-metre-high viewing tower with a telescope stands on a steep slope above the Bystrzyca Valley. Its elevation and telescope set this landmark apart from the nature trails and historic collections that are the focus elsewhere in Lubelski County.

In the municipality of Niemce, the craft distillery Dyssov produces spirits and distilled beers and offers tours of the historic mill. Product availability may change. Another special activity is available in Radawiec: the Lublin Aero Club operates a model-flying section at the model airfield in the municipality of Konopnica.

When planning your trips, you can weigh the different options: cycling routes are defined by their length, course or connections; nature destinations range from protected oak groves and rare habitats to waterways and varied terrain. Culture enthusiasts can discover architectural landmarks, collections and events celebrating blacksmithing. This makes it possible to shape your stay around the experiences that interest you most.
