Trójca as a Destination

Trójca is a village about 1.8 km long in the Izera Foothills, in the eastern part of the Zgorzelec Plain. The length describes the extent of the village; the two geographical names indicate its location.

Parish Church and Building History

One specific historical reference is the Parish Church of St. Peter and Paul. It was built around the middle of the 13th century and remodeled in 1512. In the second half of the 17th century, its vaults were decorated with stucco; the church was also restored in 1809 and 1827. The sequence thus extends from its medieval construction through later structural alterations to the restorations of the 19th century. Stucco refers to the decoration of the vaults and adds a specific architectural detail to the sequence of dates.

A Cemetery with Its Own Historical Context

There is also an Evangelical cemetery at the church, dating from around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. It is no longer in use. Compared with the medieval construction of the parish church, the cemetery was established much later; its Evangelical affiliation and present status give it its own historical context. This means different historical periods are represented side by side at the church site.

Local Remembrance

A different perspective on time is offered by the Izba Pamięci of the Szkoła Podstawowa im. Osadników Wojskowych. It displays exhibits on aspects of life before, during and after the war among the residents of Trójca and the surrounding villages. While the history of the parish church can be traced through its construction, remodeling and restorations, the Izba focuses on people’s lives across several periods. Its geographical scope also extends beyond Trójca: the surrounding villages are part of its subject as well. The development of a single building and the life stories of the local population thus offer different historical perspectives.

Commemoration and Road Location

Local commemoration includes the Dzień Męczeństwa Kresowian, held regularly. The event is organized by the Stowarzyszenie „Strażnicy Pamięci Ziemi Zgorzeleckiej“. As a recurring commemorative occasion, it complements the topics of architectural history and the lives of local residents. If you would like to include the day of remembrance in your travel plans, check the dates in advance.

Droga Krajowa Nr 30 is also relevant for orientation. On the Zgorzelec–Jelenia Góra route, it passes through Trójca. This provides another way to locate the village, using a specific road route. The geographical names indicate the landscape setting, while DK 30 describes a route through the village. If you compare Trójca with other possible destinations for a hotel stay, you can consider these two points of reference separately: its geographical location on the one hand and the course of the road on the other.
