Jastrzębia: Manor House, Village History and Cycling Route
Accommodation in Jastrzębia
With its Baroque manor house and historic rural village layout, Jastrzębia offers points of interest for a trip focused on architectural and local history. There is also the 15 km cycling and hiking route called “Jastrząb.” When looking for a hotel for your trip, you can consider whether local history or the route should be your main focus.
The manor house and its architecture
The historic manor house dates from the 18th century and was rebuilt in the 20th century. It is a two-storey Baroque brick building on a rectangular plan, with a basement and a hipped roof. The roof features eyebrow dormers. The floor plan and number of storeys describe the building’s structure; the hipped roof and dormers identify its roof form.
An acanthus frieze runs along the façade. The entrance is framed by paired pilasters, with a broken segmental pediment above and a cartouche above the door. An acanthus frieze is a continuous ornament made of acanthus leaves. Pilasters are flat, wall-attached forms resembling pillars, not free-standing columns. A cartouche is an ornamentally framed panel. Together, the pilasters and pediment shape the entrance; the frieze adds a distinct leaf motif to the façade.
Village layout and remnant of a park
Jastrzębia also has a historic rural village layout. This draws attention not only to the manor house but also to the settlement pattern of the village. Two farmyards surrounded by residential and agricultural buildings once stood around the residence. The distinction in scale is useful: the village layout describes the form of the settlement, while the two farmyards describe the buildings around the residence.
A small wooded area west of the manor house survives as a remnant of a neglected park and garden. This remnant adds the landscape aspect of a former garden to the architectural history of the village.
A dated cultural reference from 2025
At the 2025 municipal harvest festival, the Jastrzębia village council entered the competition for the most beautiful harvest wreath and took first place. The judging criteria were the craftsmanship, appearance and artistic qualities of the wreath design. The criteria therefore cover both workmanship and the overall effect and design concept. The harvest competition adds a specific date to the village’s story: it took place at the municipal festival in 2025, while the manor house and village layout mark its longer history.
The “Jastrząb” cycling and hiking route
The “Jastrząb” tourist route is 15 km long and designated for cycling and hiking. It starts in Góra and runs through Stara Góra, Rogów Górowski, Osetno, Gola Górowska and Jastrzębia. Its length, starting point and sequence of villages provide practical details for planning the route. A route passing through several villages offers a different focus from the local history around the manor house. When planning your trip, you can distinguish between Jastrzębia’s architectural and village history and the longer route’s course.
