Kruszyn’s historical themes include Baroque architecture, an 18th-century manor farm and agricultural complex, archaeological traces and stone monuments. When planning your trip, you can consider architectural history, archaeological evidence and memorial sites as distinct areas of interest. Together, they offer several historical perspectives on the area, spanning different building phases and older finds.

Palace, manor farm and historic buildings

The palace in Kruszyn, at Topolowa 12, is Baroque. An 18th-century manor farm and agricultural complex forms another architectural focal point. A park, also dating from the 18th century, is associated with the complex. The manor farm, agriculture and park thus form a connected historical area of interest.

Kruszyn also has historic residential buildings dating from the 18th and 19th centuries; some feature Baroque elements. Buildings from an 18th-century market square have also been preserved in the area. Together, the palace, houses and market-square buildings offer different insights into the area’s historical architectural development. Their dates and styles are not uniform: the palace is Baroque, while the residential buildings span two centuries and only some feature Baroque elements.

Archaeological traces and monuments

Kruszyn’s archaeological traces include a Neolithic stone hand axe and a cremation burial ground dating from the Lusatian culture. These are different kinds of evidence: a stone tool and a burial site associated with a particular culture. Stone monuments also commemorate the wars of 1813 and 1870–1871. Archaeological finds and specific memorial sites thus stand side by side, though they serve different historical purposes.

Getting oriented and a cultural look back

A 210 m section of forest road runs between Kruszyn and Kraśnik Górny. An access notice dated 5 July 2023 lists this section as open to public traffic. Follow current local access signs when using it.

A municipal activity report dated 25 March 2024 noted that singing lessons took place for ten months of the year, with a summer break. This offers a time-specific glimpse of local cultural life, alongside the longer-term architectural and archaeological themes.

Ceramics in the wider Bolesławiecki destination

In the wider Bolesławiecki destination, the 32nd edition of Bolesławieckie Święto Ceramiki took place from 19 to 23 August 2026. For five days, a ceramics market was held at the Rynek and on ul. Prusa. If an event date is important to your trip, check the dates for the relevant edition.

Also in the wider Bolesławiecki destination, Muzeum Ceramiki w Bolesławcu collects materials on the history of Bolesławiec and the Bolesławiec region, the development of Bolesławiec ceramics, and contemporary ceramic sculptures by artists taking part in the ceramic plein-air workshops in Bolesławiec. The collection therefore ranges from regional history to ceramics and contemporary sculpture.

Since April 2024, the collections of the ceramics department and the city history department have been on display in newly designed, modernized rooms. Check the current access arrangements before visiting. A revitalized historic park adjoins Muzeum Ceramiki.

Muzeum Ceramiki also offers the historical city tour “Szlak ceramików i rzeźbiarzy” (Ceramicists’ and Sculptors’ Trail). It is one of the museum’s guided city routes and offers a different focus from the collections: here, the emphasis is on a historical route.
