Kluki brings together historic features in the village with a landscape park and designated routes in the surrounding municipality. This offers different perspectives for planning your trip: local history, parkland, architecture and various types of routes.

History in the Village

The castle in Kluki was built in the 1920s on the walls of a former distillery belonging to the Cistercian abbey. The castle therefore combines a more recent phase of construction with the older building associated with the former distillery. Kluki’s historic street layout dates back to 1136. Kluki is also home to a war cemetery dating from 1939. The street layout, castle and cemetery represent distinct historical reference points; their dates range from 1136 to 1939 and include the castle’s construction in the 1920s. This makes it possible to explore the village’s history through different points in time.

The Manor Park and Its Natural Features

Kluki’s manor park is classified as a landscape park dating from the 19th or 20th century and covers 6.0 hectares. Of this, 0.68 hectares are water. The park is home to 26 tree species, and the trees are between 60 and 200 years old. There are also eight shrub species. These figures describe different features: the total area indicates the park’s size, the water area its share of the total, and the species counts the variety of trees and shrubs. This provides a way to understand the park both as a landscape and through specific details about its natural features.

Architecture and Nature Across the Municipality

The Church of the Holy Trinity in Kaszewice, a village within the municipality of Kluki, offers another historical perspective. It was built in 1612 by Michał Koniecpolski and is an example of wooden religious architecture in the municipality. Its location in Kaszewice distinguishes the church from the historical sites in the village of Kluki itself. The year 1612 also adds a separate point in time to the history of the municipality.

The “Dąb Cygański” oak is another natural feature of the municipality. Described as a 900-year-old natural monument, it is associated with a legend about Queen Jadwiga and Kluki. The oak adds a natural feature linked to a local story to the picture of the manor park.

Routes and Orientation

National Road 74 is an important route for getting around the municipality: it runs for 8.6 kilometres through the municipality of Kluki and forms part of the Warsaw–Piotrków–Wrocław route. This information connects two scales of orientation: the interregional route and the section within the municipality. The municipality also has the Widawka water route, designated as a tourist route; the Łódzka Magistrala Rowerowa N–S, a cycling route; and the regional Łódzki Szlak Konny, a horse-riding trail. These different designations make water, cycling and horse-riding routes easy to distinguish when planning a trip.

This is useful if you want to combine local history and parkland with other cultural and natural features or designated routes. The distinction between the village and the municipality gives your search for a hotel in Kluki a clear geographical framework.
