Discover Lasek
Accommodation in Lasek
When choosing a destination for your hotel stay, Lasek offers several clearly distinct points of reference: a basin landscape along the lower reaches of the Lepietnica, a history that began as a hamlet of Klikuszowa, and a named cycling route that ends in the village. These features help you understand the character of the place through its landscape, history and a specific route. Which of them matters for your trip depends on what you value when choosing where to stay.
Landscape and ridges
Most of Lasek lies in a basin landscape. To the north, the village borders the Sieniawa Depression, also known as Brama Sieniawska. Its location can also be pinpointed along the lower reaches of the Lepietnica stream. To the northwest, the terrain rises gently towards Obroczna and Przysłop. Obroczna is 740 m above sea level and Przysłop is 752 m, making Przysłop 12 m higher. The basin setting, depression, stream and rising terrain give you different geographical reference points for locating Lasek.
History of the village
Through colonisation in the mid-16th century, Lasek developed from a hamlet of Klikuszowa. A document from 1616 records that Jan Pieniążek, starost of Nowy Targ, founded the village on undeveloped land. Two roles should be distinguished when dating these events: the mid-16th century marks the period of development, while 1616 is the year of the founding record. Its origins and the dated record thus provide two different historical reference points.
Cycling route to Lasek
The 11.63 km cycling route runs from Klikuszowa via Pyzówka to Lasek. The starting point, intermediate stop and destination are all named; the distance adds the route’s total length to the sequence of places. If you choose Lasek for a trip with an interest in cycling, the route gives you a specific point of reference. This sets it apart from the landscape features: those describe the location and terrain, while the route describes a journey between three places.
Agriculture and local production
Agriculture is also part of the village’s profile: farms in Lasek focus on cheese production. This identifies a local form of production that brings another aspect of the place into view, alongside its history, landscape and cycling route. If you are interested in regional produce, this information may help you decide which aspects of the destination appeal to you most.
Getting your bearings
Lasek is located on the railway line from Kraków to Zakopane; Nowy Targ railway station is 5 km away. The railway line places the village along a named connection, while the distance identifies the station as a specific reference point. When planning your trip to Lasek, you can consider these geographical details separately and decide which reference point matters for your plans.
