Discover Lipno: Churches, the Samica River and Nature
Accommodation in Lipno
If you are looking for a hotel in Lipno, it is worth considering the themes that shape a stay there. In addition to the town itself, the municipality includes churches, a manor house and natural landscapes; many of the sights described are in different villages.
Churches and Art in the Municipality of Lipno
In the centre of Mórkowo stands a Late Gothic church built of brick and granite. The All Saints’ Parish Church in Mórkowo has a six-part star vault supported by two cylindrical pillars. A historic Gothic triptych dating from around 1370 is housed in a chapel at the headquarters of Towarzystwo Chrystusowego dla Polonii Zagranicznej. The church and triptych offer different ways to explore the art and architectural history of the municipality.
Churches dating from different periods can also be found in other villages. The Neo-Romanesque church in Radomicko was built in the mid-19th century. In Goniembice stands the Church of St Nicholas, built in 1815. The year 1815 is the construction date of the church in Goniembice; the church in Radomicko, by contrast, dates from around the middle of the 19th century. In Wilkowice stand the Parish Church of St Martin and the branch church of St Edith Stein.
The Samica, Landscapes and Nature Reserve
Forests, picturesque landscapes and the Samica Valley, with its namesake stream, offer opportunities for active recreation in the municipality. The source of the Samica lies southwest of Lipno. The river flows through the municipality of Lipno. It continues through Stare Bojanowo and flows into the Obra near Kraśnice.
A specific nature conservation site is located in the village of Goniembice: the Dolinka Nature Reserve, which covers 1.77 hectares. It was established in 1974 to protect the endangered European globeflower, a member of the buttercup family. Goniembice thus brings together different points of interest: the Church of St Nicholas, built in 1815, and a protected area with a clearly defined botanical conservation purpose.
The Manor House and Notable Places
The manor house in Wyciążkowo dates from the mid-19th century and features Late Neoclassical forms. It has two storeys, and its front façade has a three-axis avant-corps. An avant-corps projects from the rest of the façade, and its three axes define the layout of the front here. The manor house is located on a cycling route.
Near Lipno, the erratic boulder known as Stół Napoleona lies on the road from Leszno to Lipno. According to legend, Napoleon supposedly used the stone as a dining table in 1812 while fleeing from Moscow. Górka Duchowna is 5 km from Lipno.
Churches and architectural history take you to different places across the municipality; the Samica, forests and Dolinka offer a focus on the landscape. If you are looking for a hotel in Lipno, these differences can help you decide which themes to prioritise during your stay.
