Darfield Town Walks are scenic, historic walking routes through the town. They are considered family-friendly and easy, and take about an hour. The starting point is Darfield Clock Tower. The approximate duration provides a practical guide for planning your time, while the starting point and character of the routes make it easier to find your way around.

Walkway A passes the stone gates that form the original entrance to St Andrew’s Church. This gives the route a specific historical connection. As another option for activities nearby, McHughs Forest Park offers opportunities for walking, mountain biking, horse riding and family activities across more than 1,000 hectares of forest and open space. The town walks lead through the town; the park offers a different choice of activities.

Balloon launches and scenic backdrop

Darfield is a popular launch site for hot-air balloons. The Southern Alps also provide the town’s scenic backdrop. These features add two more aspects to the walking routes and local history: a connection to hot-air balloons and an alpine landscape.
