Rivers, lagoons and lush vegetation shape Villahermosa’s surroundings. In the heart of the city, lagoons and parks are used for recreation and ecotourism. If you’re looking for a hotel in Villahermosa, you can plan your trip around the things that interest you most: outdoor recreation, Olmec monuments, or museums and events. The city offers a variety of ways to explore them.

Parks, Nature and Olmec Monuments

Parque La Choca is located in the Tabasco 2000 area and offers opportunities for outdoor activities, including rollerblading, cycling and basketball. Parque Tomás Garrido Canabal is home to the 50-meter-high Mirador de Las Águilas. The two places offer different ways to experience Villahermosa’s parks: La Choca focuses on specific recreational activities, while the Mirador is a distinctive structure within Parque Tomás Garrido Canabal.

Parque Museo La Venta brings together the site’s flora and fauna with pre-Hispanic monuments. Among the sights are altars, colossal heads and stelae depicting fantastic beings that mark the entrance to the Olmec underworld, as well as stone mosaics. Nature and archaeological objects are part of the same visitor experience here. This sets the museum park apart from a visit focused mainly on a single building or collection.

Nearby is ANP Yumka, an ecological reserve close to Villahermosa. It includes jungle and savanna areas as well as recreational zones; guided tours offer the chance to observe animals living in the wild. A tour lasts approximately two hours. If you plan this activity, you can set aside a separate time slot for it.
