Accommodation in Cunduacán
Plan your trip around Cunduacán with a range of themes in mind: the church in the center, cultural landmarks in town, festivals with set dates, and cacao experiences in the municipality. If you’re looking for a hotel in Cunduacán, first consider whether history, an event, or cuisine will be the main focus of your stay. The examples below distinguish between places in the city, experiences in the municipality, and programs tied to a specific edition.
Church, remembrance, and local names
The Iglesia de la Virgen de la Natividad is located in the center of Cunduacán. The Iglesia de la Natividad de María was inaugurated in 1725 and dates from approximately the 18th century. It was the seat of religious power in the state of Tabasco and of the Tribunal of the Holy Inquisition in Tabasco. The church’s central location is thus connected with an important role in the state’s religious history.
The “Cimatán” monument also offers a historical connection: it commemorates the origins of Cunduacán. The Fuente de los Destinos is also known as the Fuente de las Ninfas and the Fuente de las mujeres desnudas. Alongside the church’s history, visitors can explore the town’s origins and the different names of a fountain. This means that Cunduacán offers not only festival programs, but also named cultural sites, each with its own historical or local significance.
Feria and different event profiles
The Feria Cunduacán 2026 was scheduled to run from April 9 to May 6. Its program highlighted local identity, folklore, and community pride. The Parque de Feria “Mireya Ruiz Quero” was designated as the venue for the Flor Cunduacán pageant, the official opening, and the closing ceremony.
The celebrations marking the 400th anniversary of Cunduacán’s founding in 2025 had a different event profile. The Parque José Eduardo de Cárdenas y Romero hosted competitions in poetry, photography, singing, and cooking. The named program items differed considerably: the 2026 Feria featured, among other things, the Flor pageant and official celebrations, while the 2025 anniversary celebrations included competitions in four fields.
Barbacoa, cacao, and destinations in the municipality
The Festival de la Barbacoa was announced for August 28–30, 2026, at Cunduacán’s Unidad Deportiva. The mayor described it as a gastronomic tradition. The announced program included food workshops where families could learn traditional cooking techniques and traditions, as well as competitions for traditional and innovative barbacoa. Visitor areas for resting, recreation, leisure, and entertainment were planned across much of the Unidad Deportiva for the three days of the event. The workshops and competitions had different focuses: learning about traditional preparation and comparing traditional with innovative barbacoa variations.
In the municipality of Cunduacán, Hacienda La Chonita offers visitors a chocolate workshop. The Campo de Girasoles is located in the community of Huacapa y Amestoy, next to the Rancho Municipal, and was established as an excursion destination for residents and visitors. Visiting opportunities and flowering periods may vary by season, so check in advance whether your preferred dates are suitable for a visit.
The Ruta del Cacao al Chocolate offers a wider, multi-location itinerary. It runs through Cunduacán, Comalcalco, and Paraíso, about 50 minutes from Villahermosa. Its offerings include agrotourism and archaeological attractions, visits to cacao plantations, product tastings, and historical insights.
