Discover Trafalgar
Accommodation in Trafalgar
Trafalgar combines local shops and snack bars with gardens and volcanic hot pools in the village, as well as waterfalls nearby. When choosing a hotel, it helps to distinguish between what Trafalgar itself offers, a visit to Papillote Tropical Gardens with advance reservations, and destinations in the wider Saint George destination. This way, you can plan your stay around the experiences you want to include.
Local amenities in Trafalgar
The village has small shops, pubs, snack bars, and street stalls. They offer local food and drinks, eggs, fresh fruit, and juices. If particular products are important to your plans, check what is currently available before your visit: individual businesses and offerings may change.

Trails and natural attractions in the wider Saint George destination
The wider Saint George destination has a variety of hiking trails, waterfalls, and lakes. These regional attractions complement Trafalgar, but remain distinct nature experiences.
Segment 4 of the Waitukubuli National Trail runs from Wotten Waven to Pont Casse. It lies in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Morne Trois Pitons National Park, is about 13.3 km long, can be completed in six hours, and ends at the Waitukubuli National Trail Research and Interpretation Facility in Pont Casse. The segment offers views of five mountains. Its endpoints, length, and stated duration give you concrete details to help assess the route.
Trafalgar Falls comprises the twin cascades Papa Falls, at 85 m, and Mama Falls, at 40 m. A ten-minute walk from the parking lot leads to a viewing platform. Another hike leads through the rainforest of Morne Trois Pitons National Park to Middleham Falls. The trail takes 45 minutes and is described as easy to moderate; the cascading falls are 200 feet high. The pool below Middleham Falls is suitable for swimming, though a little cool.
Lakes, gorges, and the Boiling Lake
Freshwater Lake is Dominica’s largest lake. A moderate 1¼-mile trail to Boeri Lake starts at Freshwater Lake. Boeri Lake lies at an elevation of 2,800 feet and covers about four acres. It is located in the crater of an ancient volcano, where Morne Macaque—also known locally as Morne Micotrin—formed. The volcano separates Boeri Lake from Freshwater Lake.
Boiling Lake is in Morne Trois Pitons National Park. The trail there passes through the Valley of Desolation and by sulfur springs, steaming mud pools, and volcanic terrain. Tours to Boiling Lake start in Laudat; hikers must be accompanied by a certified local guide. Check the latest tour arrangements before setting out.
At Titou Gorge, a short swim from the foot of a waterfall passes through several natural chambers and pools. High rock walls, covered by interwoven trees, form the backdrop to this passage.
