Christopher Lake lies in the boreal forest landscape of the Lakeland region, along scenic Route 263 on the way to Prince Albert National Park. When planning your trip, it is useful to distinguish between amenities in the village and destinations in the surrounding area: the village street is a landmark, while nature and motorized trails are also located outside the village.

Scenery and trails in the surrounding area

The nearby Christopher Lake Nature Area Trails comprise three self-guided trails for hiking and birdwatching, with a total length of 3 km. One of these trails is 0.7 km long and is used for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter. This makes it possible to distinguish between the designated activities and trail lengths without assuming a hiking time or difficulty level. Trail conditions can vary by season; check the current conditions before setting out.

Motorized routes also offer different landmarks. North of Christopher Lake, an ATV trail leads to Tower Shelter in nearby Great Blue Heron Provincial Park. In winter, there are 50 km of interconnected snowmobile trails linking Christopher Lake with Anglin Lake and Emma Lake. Tree Dodgers operates a network of more than 360 km of groomed, well-marked snowmobile trails; its routes extend from Christopher Lake to Elk Ridge Resort. Together with the park, Tree Dodgers also manages around 10 km of designated ATV trails within the park. Distances, access and trail routes may change. Check trail conditions and access, as well as any permit requirements, before setting out.

Christopher Lake is nearby and has four boat launches or marinas. Their availability may vary seasonally. If boating access is part of your plans, check the conditions in advance for your travel dates.

Finding your way around the village

For errands, CL Gas lists fuel, propane, groceries and snacks. CJ Market offers groceries and lottery services; at Reflections, you can find gifts and home accessories. Check current offerings before making a special trip, as services and stock may change.

Anderson Community Centre offers rentals and has a curling club. If you are planning a rental or a curling session, ask in advance about the options available. It is also a good idea to check the address before making a special trip to Lake Country Cottage Restaurant: it is located at 323 Main St W in Christopher Lake. The restaurant serves home-style cooking, including a soup and salad bar; menu details may change.

A lasting feature of the village is the wooden pavilion from the Village of Christopher Lake’s Park Enhancements project. The recreation project opened in July 2022 and includes the pavilion as a place for seniors to gather and spend time. Christopher Lake Camps covers eight hectares of recreational land and offers snowmobilers free winter storage. If you plan to use this service, check its availability before your trip.

Summer activities and local events

In the surrounding area, The Quest at Christopher Lake has been running summer Bible camps for children and families since 1945. Check dates and availability before arriving. Outside the season, the operator opens its facilities to retreat and rental groups; this use is for groups and is not a general open program.

Christopher Lake Western Day was held again in 2024. The program included a pancake breakfast, wagon rides, petting zoos and games. A trade fair featuring local crafts was also held in a community centre. These program details refer to that edition and may differ at future events. If a festival is part of your travel plans, check the dates and program for your travel period.
