Washago offers specific reasons to spend time outdoors and in town: Washago Centennial Park brings together several recreational activities, along with paddling opportunities, art and a seasonal farmers’ market. The water activities differ in their destinations: a paddling route leads to Wasdell Falls, while Quetton Street Dock provides access to Lake Couchiching.

Washago Centennial Park: Disc Golf, Beach and Walking Trail

The 21 acres of publicly accessible parkland at Washago Centennial Park can be used for picnicking. The park also has a beach where visitors can relax and swim. Check local beach conditions before your visit. A walking trail and a boat launch are also part of the park.

The five-hole Disc Golf Discovery Zone is designed for learning, practice and play. It is suitable for beginners and families, as well as players of all ages and experience levels. This makes it appealing to a range of players: those new to disc golf can learn and practice there, while the zone is also intended for experienced players. The beach, walking trail and picnic area offer other ways to spend time in the park.

Paddling Route, Lake Access and Trumpeter Swans

From the Township dock in Washago, a paddling route follows the Green River and Severn River to Wasdell Falls. After a short portage from the Township dock, it is also possible to access the waterway beside the Alexander Hope-Smith Nature Reserve. Conditions on this route can vary; check them before setting out.

The two paddling options differ in their routes: the route along the Green River and Severn River leads to Wasdell Falls, while accessing the waterway beside the nature reserve involves a short portage. Quetton Street Dock offers another way to access the water: visitors can reach Lake Couchiching from there. In cold weather, trumpeter swans can be spotted passing by the dock. This provides different options for different plans: a river route to a named destination, access to the lake and a seasonal wildlife-watching opportunity.

The Washago Art Gallery features fused glass, as well as turned and carved woodwork. A post by Orillia & Lake Country Tourism, published on September 19, 2025, describes the gallery as being housed in a log cabin. Downtown Washago also features creative public art displays by the Washago Art Club. Culture-minded visitors can explore different art forms in town, from the gallery’s handcrafted work to the club’s public displays.

The seasonal Washago Farmers Market takes place on Fridays from 2 to 7 p.m., from June through the Thanksgiving weekend. Dates and opening hours may change; check them before making specific plans. The market is a separate, time-limited reason to visit, alongside the park, water and art offerings.
