Discover Clarence-Rockland
Accommodation in Clarence-Rockland
Clarence-Rockland offers a range of ways to shape your trip: a protected natural area, seasonally used trails and attractions focused on local history and heritage. When choosing where to stay, you can consider whether nature, outdoor activities or cultural topics are your priority.
Nature in Clarence-Rockland
The Lavigne Natural Park is located northwest of Bourget, within Clarence-Rockland. The protected area covers 100 acres. Animals, vegetation and birds can develop naturally there. Another connection with nature is Tucker House’s Wellness and Recognition Garden, which is open to the entire community. These places have different focuses: the park is a protected area where animals, plants and birds can develop naturally; the garden is open to the community.
Trails and seasonal activities
The Prescott and Russell Recreational Trail is 72 kilometres long. In winter, it is used for snowmobiling; in summer, for hiking and cycling. Use is weather-dependent. The season is therefore an important consideration when planning your activities: the uses described differ between winter and summer.
The trail stop in Bourget has parking, a covered pavilion, picnic tables and washrooms. These facilities are at the stop in Bourget; the 72-kilometre length describes the entire trail. This makes it possible to distinguish information about the route from the facilities at this specific stop.
History and heritage
The Clarence-Rockland Museum is currently closed to the public while its operations are being transferred to the Clarence-Rockland Public Library. Check its reopening status before visiting. The museum’s collection includes more than 5,000 objects, including photographs, documents, newspapers, old books, medals for military valour, tools, garments, plaques, trophies and other artefacts. The collection thus ranges from written and photographic sources to objects from different areas of community life.
The former Sainte-Famille School is considered local heritage because of its long-standing role in the community’s education and its new cultural use. It is part of Clarence-Rockland’s Heritage Tours. The City of Clarence-Rockland and the Saint-Pascal-Baylon Historical Society organize these tours. Signs outside historic buildings help visitors discover the city’s history.
Tucker House and Hammond
Tucker House offers guided and self-guided tours covering local history, heritage and the site’s sustainability features. Booking may be required; check in advance for visit arrangements. Maison Tucker House also holds workshops and programs in its historic residence, various gardens and the forest. Individual programs may vary.
Hammond also adds to Clarence-Rockland’s cultural and nature offerings: Hammond Hill is located there. The city describes it as Canada’s first eco-experience and wilderness retreat of its kind. Together with the protected Lavigne Natural Park, seasonal activities on the trail and heritage attractions, it offers a range of interests to help guide your hotel plans.
