Chestermere offers several specific ways to spend time in the area: Chestermere Lake, cycling and skateboarding facilities, disc golf, and places to access the water and walk dogs off-leash. Seasons, activities, and exact locations vary. For planning, it’s worth considering these features separately and choosing what to focus on based on your travel plans.

Chestermere Lake in Every Season

Chestermere Lake is a natural and recreational space that can be enjoyed year-round and is surrounded by urban infrastructure. The lake’s entire shoreline lies within Chestermere. In summer, visitors can use wakeboards, water skis, tubes, canoes, kayaks, sailboats, and pedal boats on the lake. The seasonal distinction matters for planning: the listed water activities are summer activities, while the lake remains relevant as a natural and recreational space throughout the year. If you’d like to combine your trip with one of these water activities, this gives you a clear seasonal reference point.

Bike Park and Skatepark

The Chestermere Family Bike Park has a large pump track and a skills loop with regularly arranged practice stations for developing skills for the flow trails. The flow trails run downhill in one direction and include hills, jumps, and drops. The skills loop and flow trails serve different purposes: the stations on the loop help develop skills, while the trails are defined by their one-way downhill route. Access to the park may vary depending on the weather, so take this into account when planning.

The Chestermere Skatepark is located near the intersection of Rainbow Road and Chestermere Boulevard. Skateboards, rollerblades, scooters, and Ripsticks are permitted there. The list can help you choose what equipment to bring; since the rules may change, check before your visit that your equipment is still allowed. When planning for the bike park, the trail features and weather-dependent access are key considerations, while at the skatepark, the permitted equipment and location at the intersection are most important.

Water Access and Dog Exercise Area

At Sunset Park, concrete steps and two docks provide access to the water. If water access is important for your visit, these features offer a specific point of reference. Facilities may change, so it’s a good idea to check for updates before your visit.

Chestermere’s current off-leash area is on the northwest side of the lake. Steve King Memorial Dog Park is located at the corner of Paradise Road and Windermere Drive. The first location reference is based on the lake, while the second is based on a street intersection.

Westmere Disc Golf Course

Westmere Disc Golf Course is located behind St Gabriel’s Highschool at 197 Invermere Drive. The course has nine holes of varying lengths and shapes, is suitable for people of all ages and skill levels, and is free to visit. This makes it easy to assess as a recreational option in terms of course size, variety, skill level, and cost. Its suitability for all ages and skill levels is also helpful when players have different levels of experience.
