For a trip to Moergestel, the natural landscape and village history are two distinct focal points. The Moergestels Broek, the Rosep stream and Natuurpoort De Reuselhoeve shape the nature-related attractions; protected streetscapes, old church paths and buildings offer insight into the village’s history. When planning your trip, you can first decide whether you would like to focus primarily on a landscape, a route or the village’s historic features.

Natural Landscape and Tours

The Moergestels Broek lies southeast of Moergestel, covers 107 hectares and extends on both sides of the A58. It is the largest meadow-bird area in Noord-Brabant.

In this area, the Rosep stream is once again allowed to meander and overflow its banks. Its old course has been restored in several places.

The Moergestels Broek is easily accessible from Natuurpoort De Reuselhoeve. The Natuurpoort is also a starting point for a walking or cycling tour through the Land van de Hilver. At Natuurpoort De Reuselhoeve, you can experience nature on land, in the air and on the water.

A canoe trip on the Reusel through the surrounding agricultural landscape is also possible. Check water access and providers before your trip. When planning your tours, you can distinguish between two types of activity: from De Reuselhoeve, you can set out on a walking or cycling tour through the Land van de Hilver; on the Reusel, a canoe trip through the surrounding agricultural landscape is possible.

The 27-kilometre Leerroute Oisterwijk passes through the countryside around Haaren and Moergestel. It offers a different scale for planning than the tours starting at De Reuselhoeve: here, the route length is specified, while there, the focus is on the starting point and choice of activity—walking or cycling.

The sequence begins with the Late Gothic tower from around 1500, moves on to the mill at its current location and ends with the church building from the interwar period. The dates refer to different features: for the tower, they refer to its style and period; for the mill, to its location; and for the church, to the building’s construction period itself.
