Parkland and Water

Landgoed 't Haveke includes a manor house built in 1860 and is surrounded by a 14-hectare English landscape park with woodland and well-kept lawns. The combination of woodland and open lawns shapes the designed parkland and contrasts with the waterside and meadow landscape at Sluiscomplex Eefde.

The estate has kilometres of walking paths that are freely open to the public during the day. If you plan to include these paths in your stay, note the time of day: public access is available during the day.

Sluiscomplex Eefde is on the IJssel at the beginning of the Twentekanalen. Visitor facilities around the site include walking paths, an open area, a viewpoint, benches, a playground and bicycle racks. As local facilities may change, check the current situation before your visit.

West of Sluiscomplex is a flower-rich meadow enclosed by a discovery trail. Eefse Beek offers a different landscape: this slow-flowing watercourse formed through the natural confluence of streams such as Molenbeek, Huurnerbeek and Flierderbeek. Through the forest, Eefse Beek still follows its natural, winding course, with loops and bends. Designed parkland and a natural watercourse thus sit side by side as distinct nature themes.

Routes around Eefde

The Knapzakroute Eefde is a waymarked route of more than 17 kilometres around and through the village. It passes the IJssel, Oude Eefde Beek, the parks and forests of the De Voorst and Het Haveke estates, Sluiscomplex Eefde and the Den Dam country house. Its length gives you a clear measure for planning your walk; the route links different landscapes and historic estates.

The Ommetje Eefde is marked with signs bearing green footprints. The Knapzakroute has a specified length and a described route; green footprints are the waymarks for the Ommetje Eefde. Markings may be updated, so check the waymarks before setting off.

Historic Country Estates

The Knapzakroute also passes the Den Dam country house. Den Dam is a historic estate whose layout and, in part, details have been well preserved. The ensemble includes the main house, a historic garden and park, a coach house, a sundial, a greenhouse with cold frames and a gardener’s house. The complex also includes the Bosmanshuis farm with a backspieker. Den Dam is therefore defined not by a single building, but by several elements of a historic estate. The existing building of De Boedelhof was built in 1747 on the foundations of an earlier building.
