Lunteren brings together forest landscapes, hiking destinations and cultural sites. Around the Lunterse Goudsberg, natural, cultural-historical and geological features come together. You can plan your stay around a range of interests: walks through a conifer garden, trails through the Luntersche Buurtbosch, insights into the region’s history or time by the water.

Forest Landscapes Around Lunteren

Pinetum de Dennenhorst is a conifer garden of about six hectares in Lunteren. On walks, you can discover the variety of conifer trees. The Luntersche Buurtbosch offers a different landscape: it is a nature area with a distinctive avenue pattern. These two places represent different aspects of the local forest landscape.

Around the Lunterse Goudsberg, in the geographical heart of the Netherlands, lies an area with exceptional natural, cultural-historical and geological qualities. If you do not want to limit your stay to a single type of landscape, you will find several themes side by side here: nature, the shaping of the landscape and its history. The nationwide bicycle junction network runs through Lunteren and its surroundings. As routes may change, check your planned route before setting out.

Hiking Trails and How They Differ

Two routes offer a direct comparison in terms of length and course. The “Route Topattracties Goudsberg – Middelpunt van Nederland” is 8.4 kilometres long and can be started at various points around the Goudsberg. At 3.4 kilometres, the “Rondje Lunterse Boer – Middelpunt van Nederland” is shorter and runs through the heart of the Luntersche Buurtbosch. You can choose between two different route lengths and landscape settings. Route lengths and availability may change; check the latest information before setting out.

Cultural History and Regional Themes

The basement of Museum Lunteren houses an exhibition about the Goudsberg area around the “Middelpunt van Nederland”. “Goudsberg: Celtic Fields en IJzertijdboerderij” also features a reconstruction of an Iron Age farmhouse and its associated Celtic fields. These places give the landscape a cultural-historical dimension that goes beyond its natural and geological qualities.

Ceramics are also part of the local cultural history: in 2010, initiator Marike Bouman took numerous artists from the surrounding area on a ceramic journey. The initiative earned Lunteren the name “Tegeldorp”. For a stay focused on regional culture, there are different themes to explore—from the Iron Age to a more recent artistic initiative.

Swimming and Seasonal Culture

Bosbad Lunteren is a family swimming pool in the heart of the Luntersche Buurtbosch. It was established in 1937 in keeping with its wooded surroundings. Outdoors, you can swim laps between the trees or enjoy a leisurely swim. Forest and water are thus part of the same visitor destination, while the Buurtbosch’s distinctive avenue pattern offers another connection with nature.

Concerts are held at De Koepel from April to November; photography exhibitions are also shown. The tea house is located by the Uitkijktoren de Koepel. As the seasonal programme and visitor information may change, check the current event dates and the tea house’s availability for your travel dates.
