Tacconi: Discover Routes and History
Accommodation in Tacconi
When planning a trip to Tacconi, three interests may shape your plans: Pastrengo’s fortification history, routes through hills and plains, and cycling routes that pass through Località Tacconi. If you are looking for a hotel for a stay focused on local history or tours, it is worth deciding on your priorities in advance. The individual routes differ in their course and character.
Fortifications and Historic Connections
Pastrengo’s fortified area includes Forte di Piovezzano, three forts on the hills above Pastrengo and the Optical Telegraph. The telegraph on Colle di San Martino is a two-storey, hexagonal building; it was connected to Verona (Castelvecchio) and Monte Baldo.
Route 2 in Pastrengo connects the viewpoint at the sites of the attack, Carlo Alberto’s Rustico, the Forte Leopold barracks, the Optical Telegraph and Forte Nugent. If you would like to visit individual sites, check their opening hours in advance.
Walking and Cycling Routes
The gently sloping hills of Pastrengo’s moraine amphitheatre and the Po plain are crisscrossed by a dense network of easy routes. These routes pass old farmsteads, villas dating from the Venetian period and Austrian fortifications. The landscape described along these routes thus brings together natural features and historic buildings.
