As a destination, Pressana brings together two distinct interests: historic architecture and cycling. Its buildings include villas and churches from different centuries, as well as a dovecote tower. The Ciclovia Treviso Ostiglia adds a cycling dimension to these cultural and historical attractions.

Architectural history from church to villa

The Oratorio di S. Sebastiano is a church dating from the late 9th century; the Chiesa di S. Maria Maddalena is an 18th-century parish church. Other notable dates lie between these two: Cà Querini is a manor villa from the early 16th century, while Villa Gaudio is an aristocratic villa from the early 17th century. The Colombaia Corte Leopardi adds a dovecote tower from the late 15th century to the selection. The timeline therefore ranges from an early medieval church to an 18th-century parish church, while also bringing different architectural forms together.

Distinguishing between building types helps put each name into context: Cà Querini and Villa Gaudio are both villas, but are described respectively as a manor villa and an aristocratic villa. The Oratorio and the Chiesa are churches, with the Chiesa specifically identified as a parish church. The Colombaia Corte Leopardi belongs to a different architectural category as a dovecote tower. Those interested in architecture will therefore find not only different periods of construction, but also a variety of building types.

Churches, frescoes and visual motifs

Villa Querini Stampalia includes a Benedictine church dating from the year 1000 and has frescoes by Falconetto from 1400. The two dates refer to different elements: the church and the frescoes. This makes it possible to consider the building’s history and its artistic decoration separately, rather than attributing both dates to a single phase of construction. Groups must make a reservation to visit Villa Querini Stampalia; reservations are recommended in general. Check the current opening hours before planning a visit.

At Villa Grimani, attention is drawn both to the richly frescoed interiors and to the loggia, with its archaeological landscapes. Roman antiquity is represented by motifs including an amphitheatre and an obelisk. The interiors and the loggia thus present different aspects of the artistic decoration: the frescoes and landscapes featuring specific ancient motifs.

Another piece of local cultural heritage has a specific connection to art and material: Pressana preserves a restored white slab with a bas-relief of Asclepius with a snake. The subject and the color of the material give this object a character distinct from that of the villas, churches and frescoes. Together with the buildings, it adds a single, named relief to the selection of cultural and historical attractions.

Plan your cycling trip and journey

The Ciclovia Treviso Ostiglia follows the trackbed of a former railway. On 4 August 2025, an additional 23-kilometre section was inaugurated between the municipalities of Cologna Veneta, Pressana, Minerbe, Legnago and Cerea. The cycling route therefore brings together two different points of reference: the former railway use of the track and its later development as a cycle path. Pressana is one of the five municipalities named in connection with the inaugurated section.

Pressana can be reached via the A4 motorway. According to the route directions, those coming from Milan should take the Soave exit; for those coming from Venice, the stated exit is Montebello. As traffic conditions and signage may change, check the current route before setting off.

Local specialties and finding a hotel

Local specialties named in Pressana include Prosciutto di Crosare and Amaro Persius, which is associated with red radicchio. These two names add a culinary note alongside the themes of architecture and cycling.

When looking for a hotel in Pressana, you can base your choice on whether architectural history or cycling will play a bigger part in your stay. For a culture-focused trip, the different periods of construction, building types and artistic motifs offer specific points of interest. For a cycling trip, the Ciclovia Treviso Ostiglia is the featured route; the A4 exits provide additional guidance for getting there. Before visiting Villa Querini Stampalia, also check the current opening hours and note that groups are required to make a reservation.
