Pieve di Soligo can be explored through several themes: its Saturday weekly market, traces of its craft history, churches and riverside trails. These offer different ways to plan your trip. You can plan your visit around a market day, take a closer look at historic sites or explore the river landscape.

Visitor Information

The Pieve di Soligo IAT tourist office is located in the Fondaco del Gusto. There, you can get maps, leaflets and brochures about the main attractions; the office also offers advice on routes through the historic centre and surrounding area. As service information may change, check the IAT office’s latest information before your visit.

Weekly Market and Craft History

The weekly market was recognised and regulated by the Venetian Republic in 1638. It takes place on Saturdays; it was suspended during the world wars. In 2019, the Veneto Region recognised it as a “Mercato Storico” (historic market). This makes a regular day of the week a point of connection with a long market history—a practical reference when planning your stay.

Borgo Stolfi comprises the Roggia Island and a waterwheel. Both recall Pieve di Soligo’s historic craft tradition. Il maglio di Pradella in the hamlet of Solighetto also tells of work in earlier times: the site was used for ironworking and the manufacture of agricultural tools. Today, it is a monument of proto-industrial archaeology. Its former use and present-day status as a historic monument offer two distinct historical perspectives on the site.

Churches in Pieve di Soligo and Solighetto

There is evidence of the Chiesa di Santa Maria Maddalena in Pieve di Soligo dating to 1354. This date refers to the earliest records of the church. In Solighetto, the Chiesa di Sant’Andrea stands in the square. The church dates from the 19th century and is dedicated to Saint Andrew and the Immaculate Conception. Its works of art include pieces by Marco Casagrande and Giovanni De Min.

The two churches offer different historical points of reference: records of Santa Maria Maddalena date back to the Middle Ages, while Sant’Andrea is characterised by its period of construction, its dedications and the artists named above. Together with the history of the former ironworks, they create a cultural and historical focus that distinguishes religious and craft heritage rather than combining them into a single narrative.

River and Trails

Le Crode del Pedrè are monumental conglomerate formations. Around them, the Lierza stream has formed small pools and cascades. Here, rock formations and water take centre stage. Via dei Troi offers a different way to experience the river landscape: this short, scenic trail leads from the Chiesa di Solighetto to Pieve di Soligo and runs alongside the river. Along the way, expansive views and dense, spontaneously grown riverside vegetation shape the landscape.

Via dei Troi is defined by its two endpoints and its riverside route; at Le Crode del Pedrè, the defining features are the conglomerate formations and the pools and cascades formed by the Lierza.

A Food Festival in October

The Sagra dello Spiedo Gigante (Giant Spit-Roast Festival) stems from an idea developed in 1956: to prepare a giant spit-roast of poultry in the square. The festival is held in October. The Saturday weekly market offers another date to plan around; these are two different occasions to consider when planning your trip.

If you are looking for a hotel in Pieve di Soligo, you can plan your travel dates around the topics that interest you most: the weekly market on Saturday, the Sagra in October if it coincides with your visit, or a visit to the churches, craft heritage and river landscapes. You can use the information from the IAT tourist office to find out about maps and routes.
