Mira combines historic villas with distinctive townscapes and designated walking routes. When planning your stay, you can focus on different highlights: Villa Widmann Rezzonico Foscari, the history of Mira Porte, or a circular route through villas and gardens. Information about opening hours, historical connections, and routes can help you distinguish between these options.

Villa Widmann: Visiting Hours, Manor House and Park

For sightseeing, Villa Widmann Rezzonico Foscari is open Tuesday through Sunday, as well as on Mondays that are public holidays. Opening hours are 10:00–13:00 and 13:30–16:30. Please note the break between these time slots and check the opening hours before your visit, as they may change.

The manor house spans three floors and is fully furnished with period furniture, Murano glass chandeliers, and brocade curtains. The villa also has a room dedicated to the gondola and the crafts associated with it. Alongside the house’s furnishings, the focus is therefore also on the trades connected with gondolas.

The estate includes a protected park of more than 16,000 square metres. Its features include hornbeam avenues, old roses, and a romantic pond with bald cypress trees. The park and the manor house represent different aspects of the estate: the expansive garden grounds on one hand, and the historically furnished rooms on the other.

The IAT at Villa Widmann Rezzonico Foscari provides information about excursions on the Brenta and in the Venetian Lagoon. The site therefore offers not only its own connections to villas and gardens, but also a place to get information about these two excursion areas.

Mira Porte and Routes Through Mira

Mira Porte is a small village with an 18th-century appearance. A lock once opened beneath the central square. The village’s name also reflects the history of the locks: Mira Porte got its name in the 17th century, when locks were built there and were also called “Porte.” The village’s appearance, square, and history of its name offer a distinct historical focus alongside the villas.

A circular route through villas and gardens runs through the centre of Mira. It can be explored on foot, by bicycle, or by boat.

Mira also has designated walking routes along the Canale Serraglio and Canale Taglio. Both canals are named options for a walk, while the circular route leads to villas and gardens. If you would like to plan your stay around a particular activity, you can consider these different route options separately.

More Villas and Their Distinctive Connections

Other villas in Mira also have their own historical and cultural connections. Villa Franceschi dates from the 17th century. Villa Valier gave the entire locality and Parco Valmarana the name “La Chitarra.” For Barchessa Valmarana, its connection to Villa Valmarana is significant: it is the surviving part of the original architectural complex, which consisted of a main building and two barchesse. Villa Contarini Dei Leoni houses the municipal theatre. These sites therefore differ in their connections to architectural history, naming, and cultural use.

In the wider Mira area, the Ville Card combines visits to Barchessa Valmarana and Villa Widmann with visits to other villas, bicycle hire, and trips on the Brenta. The specific services may change, so check which elements are currently available before making plans.
