Ghetto di Teolo is considered a group of houses on the eastern foothills of Monteseo de Piantea. The municipality of Teolo lies entirely within the Parco Regionale dei Colli Euganei. Hiking and cycling routes include Ghetto in their itineraries: a forest trail descends from the southern slopes of Monte Fiorine and Monteseo de Piantea, via Resoro, to Ghetto. The “Vietnam” singletrack ends at Via Chiesa in Località Ghetto di Teolo. You can find more cultural and culinary attractions in the municipality of Teolo.

Hikes of varying lengths

The Monte Grande e Monte della Madonna hiking route leads from Teolo in the direction of Ghetto, where it turns left into the forest and climbs to Passo Le Fiorine. It is about 13 kilometres long, includes around 500 metres of elevation gain and loss, and takes approximately five hours without breaks. A shorter option is the 4,200-metre Sentiero del Monte Grande, which is considered manageable without any particular difficulties. These details help with planning: the Sentiero offers a considerably shorter distance, while you can allow about five hours without breaks for the longer CAI hike.

Forest, slopes and nature

The Sentiero del Monte Grande runs along the ridge and then descends through the southern slope, where downy oaks, manna ashes, rockroses, tree heaths and strawberry trees grow. At Passo Fiorine, the area includes about two hectares of meadows and three hectares of chestnut forest, as well as numerous oaks and a few wild cherry trees. In spring, wildflowers can be found along the forest trail to Ghetto, and mushrooms in autumn. The rare small-leaved helleborine, Epipactis microphylla, was recorded there in the past.

Rocca Pendice is also among the natural attractions in the area of Teolo: its natural rock face consists of towering trachyte and is traditionally used for sport climbing. A pair of peregrine falcons nests there every year. The nesting played a major role in the park's designation as a Special Protection Area within the Natura 2000 network. At Passo Fiorine, the Area Pubblica “Lieta Carraresi” has a large car park, an accessible access ramp and several rest areas for people with disabilities.

Cycling routes and getting around Ghetto

The steep, wooded “Vietnam” singletrack descends to Via Chiesa in Località Ghetto di Teolo. You may need to dismount on this section; take this into account when planning your ride. The Salita al Monte Grande cycling route reaches Ghetto via this singletrack. Another cycling route, the 63-kilometre panoramic Anello dei Colli Euganei, passes through the area of Teolo.

For directions on Via Ghetto: it is about 300 metres from the road to Santuario Monte Madonna to a junction; the road branching off to the left there is restricted to residents only.
