Curtarolo: Churches, Villa Bozza and Nature
Accommodation in Curtarolo
Curtarolo combines a variety of highlights for your stay: churches and art, the history of Villa Bozza, nature along the Brenta and cycling events. Are you mainly interested in discovering cultural heritage, planning short walks or attending an event? The places and activities below offer some concrete ideas.
Churches and religious heritage
The Oratorio di San Francesco is part of an ancient complex dating back to the 13th century. Its apse preserves a cycle of frescoes attributed to pupils of the school of Giusto de’ Menabuoi or possibly to Giusto de’ Menabuoi himself. The attribution leaves both possibilities open—a detail that shapes how visitors see the oratory, along with its age.
The parish church of Pieve di Curtarolo is dedicated to Santa Giuliana. Its current building features Neoclassical forms. A comprehensive restoration of the church building began in 2001 and was completed in 2011 with the restoration of the bell tower and the redesign of the square. The church’s architectural character is thus linked to a more recent history of restoration work.
The Santuario della Beata Vergine di Tessara is a place of worship and prayer. For centuries, it has been an important point of reference for the communities of Santa Maria di Non, Pieve and Curtarolo, as well as for the entire Alta Padovana area. Year after year, the Madonna di Tessara draws numerous pilgrims to the church, set amid the greenery of the plain. This religious connection makes Tessara a distinct highlight alongside the architectural history of the churches in Pieve.
Villa Bozza and its art
Villa Bozza is a recently restored 19th-century building, standing on the site of an earlier 16th-century villa that belonged to Pietro Bembo. Beneath the entrance portico is a cast of a precious marble relief. Pietro Bembo commissioned the relief from a renowned sculptor of his time in the 16th century.
The villa features numerous Art Nouveau influences, as well as mythological decorations and frescoes. The frescoes and decorations can be found on both the façade and inside the building. Together with the history of the earlier estate, they give the villa a distinctive art-historical character among Curtarolo’s attractions.
Nature and trails along the Brenta
In the Palazzina area near Pieve di Curtarolo, along the Brenta, you can enjoy short walks in nature on foot or by bicycle. The Area Verde Palazzina is in Pieve di Curtarolo, close to the river. It includes a wooden building, a recreational area, a green space and an adjacent car park; management arrangements may change. Since these arrangements may change, check the current use of the area before visiting.
Another option is the Ciclovia Treviso-Ostiglia: near Pieve di Curtarolo, the route rises above ground level and connects to a new cycling bridge that crosses the Brenta. The 2026 edition of PieveGravel also offers its own focus on exploring unpaved roads in nature and sharing the effort. The Percorso BABY section is listed as 60 kilometres with 0 metres of elevation gain. The short walks in Palazzina and this route distance represent different scales to consider when planning your stay.
Events and trip planning
The Pedalata per le vie di Curtarolo is a traditional cycling outing held on 1 May, offering a way to get to know the area. In the 2026 programme, the event was scheduled to take place for the 30th time. The third edition of the Festa della Birra was scheduled for 4–6 September 2026 and included music and a food stall. The dates announced for the Antica sagra Madonna del Carmine in Pieve di Curtarolo were 17–21 July 2026.
These dates refer to 2026. If you want to include a future edition in your trip plans, check the announcements for the relevant year. Cultural sites, nature trails along the Brenta and event dates offer different reasons to stay; tailor your hotel search to your travel dates and the focus of your trip.
