Corsignano: Historic Settlement and Winegrowing
Accommodation in Corsignano
For a stay in Corsignano, you can consider three themes separately: the historic settlement pattern, the hamlet of Chieci, and agriculture, including winegrowing. They give the place different points of interest and can help you shape your trip around your interests. If you are looking for a hotel in Corsignano, you can consider whether local history, the landscape or the connection with winegrowing is especially important to your plans.
Settlement pattern and historic road
Corsignano is a settlement with a strong historic character that developed in a linear pattern along the main road. The main road through the village is part of the historic road network. These two details complement each other: the first describes how the settlement took shape; the second places the road in its historical context. This clear spatial axis helps you understand the character of the place.
Chieci: history, church and views
Chieci is also located in Corsignano and dates back to around the year 1000. It has a church known as Chiesa di Santa Maria. From its elevated position, Chieci offers expansive views. Here, a historical date, a specifically named church and a connection to the landscape come together. If you are interested in culture and landscape, you can explore Chieci as a separate theme alongside the main road.
Winegrowing and regional cuisine
Fattoria di Corsignano produces 40,000 bottles of Chianti Classico DOCG, Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG, Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG, Rosso Toscana IGT, Rosato Toscana IGT, Vinsanto and Grappa di Chianti Classico. The estate in Località Corsignano, Castelnuovo Berardenga, covers 22 hectares of woodland, vineyards and olive groves. About seven hectares are used for wine production; the estate has been organically certified since 2014.
Complicità has three hectares of Chianti Classico vineyards and one hectare of olive groves in Corsignano. The land-use figures describe different aspects of agriculture: for Fattoria, the total area and the area used for wine production are specified, while for Complicità, the areas of vineyards and olive groves are given. The Fattoria’s cuisine also has a direct connection to the estate: the restaurant uses vegetables from its own synergy garden for its main courses.
Trails, bus and trip planning
A 300-metre unpaved path leads from Fattoria di Corsignano to the old village of Corsignano. If you plan to use this connection, bear in mind that the surface is unpaved. The S34 regional bus connects Vagliagli, Corsignano, Pontignano and Ponte a Bozzone. The summer timetable provided here is valid from 27 July 2026; check it for your travel date, as schedules can change.
A hiking trip scheduled by the Touring Club Italiano for 4 to 9 November 2025 included a 10.5-kilometre trekking stage from Radda in Chianti to Corsignano. The two route details refer to different scales: 300 metres describes the unpaved path from the Fattoria to the old village, while 10.5 kilometres is the dated stage from Radda in Chianti to Corsignano. This lets you distinguish a local route from a historical trekking stage when considering your travel options.
