Cevoli brings together historic art and several cycling connections. The Church of Santi Pietro e Paolo and Villa Ceuli offer different ways to explore the town’s history; a cycling branch of the Cammino d’Etruria via Cevoli towards Capannoli is also planned.

Art and Architectural History in Cevoli

The Church of Santi Pietro e Paolo houses a large wooden crucifix from the 11th century and a painting dated 1490. The signed work by the Pisan artist Andrea De Pisis depicts the Madonna and Child, along with Saints Peter and Paul. The present-day church dates from the early 18th century. This brings together three distinct historical periods: an 11th-century crucifix, a dated painting and a church built later. For a cultural stay, this offers a clear focus without assigning the artwork and the building to the same period.

Villa Ceuli offers a different historical perspective. It was built at the end of the 17th century as a country residence for the Pisan Lanfranchi-Ceuli family and has a park. Its construction as a country residence therefore predates the building of the present-day parish church in the early 18th century. The church and villa tell different aspects of the town’s history: sacred art and architectural history in one case, a country residence with a park in the other. Visitors exploring Cevoli through its history can consider these two points of interest separately.

Cycling Options with Different Profiles

The Cammino d’Etruria is described as a route that can be travelled on foot or by bicycle and follows traces left by the Etruscans. A planned cycling branch passes through Cevoli towards Capannoli. As of April 2025, regional recognition and official promotion were still pending. For trip planning, the distinction is clear: the Cammino d’Etruria is described as a walking and cycling route, while the branch via Cevoli towards Capannoli was planned as of April 2025.

The short Miemo–La Sterza cycling route provides specific waypoints and is considered an unofficial, self-organised tour. From Orceto at kilometre 16, it continues to Cevoli. From there, it descends to the SP 13 and continues towards Case Fraschetta. This route therefore focuses on named places and sections of the route. The Cammino d’Etruria, by contrast, is defined by its connection to traces of the Etruscans and its planned cycling branch. These different details make it easier to distinguish the routes by their respective character, without treating them as the same route.

Another travel suggestion is titled “An itinerary of history, art and flavours in the villages between Cevoli and Casciana Alta” and presents Cevoli as the first village to visit. It complements the cycling options with a perspective on history, art and local flavours.

A Past Festival and Practical Information

The second edition of “Cena sotto le stelle” in Cevoli featured market stalls along the village streets and an art exhibition. The menu at the time included a welcome aperitif, soup, porchetta with beans, dessert, water and wine. The event thus combined street stalls and art with a specific menu. This past edition offers a distinct glimpse of village life, alongside the historical themes surrounding the church and villa.

Sunday Mass at the parish church is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Confirm the time directly with the priest before your visit.
