Il Ponte offers direct sales and facilities for tastings. The business also organizes culinary tours with wine and olive oil tastings at its own winery. This lets you choose between shopping, sampling products on site, and a tour focused on tastings.
The exclusive experience “Weekend di Stelle in Toscana” is offered year-round. Check availability for your preferred date. The Il Ponte estate on Strada Carige Alta covers 36 hectares. Azienda Agricola Il Ponte received the SILVER “I cieli più belli d'Italia” award for astrotourism.
Nature in the Municipality of Capalbio
The Riserva Naturale del Lago di Burano covers about 410 hectares and includes a 140-hectare brackish-water lake. The two area figures therefore refer to different sizes: the lake lies within the larger protected area. The Oasi WWF Lago di Burano was the first WWF oasis established in Italy.
The reserve is home to more than 300 bird species and more than 500 plant species. A nature trail with observation points for flora and fauna is also accessible to people with disabilities. Those interested in observing nature will find a practical way here to learn about plant and animal life.
Walls, Gates and Medieval Architecture
The Camminamento di Ronda runs along the entire circuit of the walls and offers views of the surrounding countryside, the sea, and the lakes of Burano and San Floriano. The walls of Capalbio are punctuated by several square-plan towers and are an important example of medieval military architecture.
The Castello di Capalbio already existed in the 12th century; it was mentioned in a privilege issued by Pope Alexander III in 1161. Porta Senese is the main entrance to Capalbio. It bears an inscription plaque dated 1418 and a Medici coat of arms dated 1601.
The medieval Torre Aldobrandesca is part of the Rocca Aldobrandesca complex. Its square structure, sloping base, and battlemented crown characterize the tower’s design. Together with Porta Senese and the circuit of walls, these structures offer different insights into Capalbio’s architectural history. The floor plan shows the shape of the tower from above; the sloping base narrows towards the top, while the battlements form its upper edge.
