Discover San Bernardo
Accommodation in San Bernardo
When planning a hotel stay in San Bernardo, the local attractions can help you choose your destination: the Kneipp centre and waterfalls, hiking trails or local history. San Bernardo lies at an altitude of 1,095 metres and is the largest and most populous district of Val di Rabbi. The routes vary in their layout and focus—from a circular trail combining art and culture to a route for different types of use.
Kneipp centre and Valorz Valley
The Kneipp centre in San Bernardo covers 550 square metres, of which 350 square metres are given over to the Kneipp trail. These areas are listed for 2026; future changes to the facility may affect the measurements. On the Kneipp trail, you walk through shallow water, over rounded stones and across fine volcanic dust. The area measurement describes the size of the centre, while the different surfaces refer to the trail itself.
San Bernardo’s wellness area is in Valorz Valley, whose landscape is marked by striking waterfalls. You can reach the base of Cascata di Valorz via a trail that starts in San Bernardo; access is best during the warmer months. Take this seasonal consideration into account when planning your visit.
The Sentiero Valorz, an art and culture trail, runs near the wellness area. It is an approximately two-kilometre circular route; trail conditions may vary by season. If you would like to combine a cultural visit with a walk, this is a specific option to consider when planning.
Hiking trails and route options
A hike along the valley floor starts at the tourist information office in San Bernardo and follows a forest trail beside the river. Further along, green meadows and woodland alternate, before the route returns to San Bernardo. Unlike the Sentiero Valorz, the focus here is on the river, meadows and woodland rather than an art and culture trail.
A three-kilometre route for different types of use, including cycling, runs between San Bernardo di Rabbi and Terme di Rabbi. Unlike the Sentiero Valorz, which is approximately two kilometres long and circular, this route connects the two named places and accommodates several types of use. This allows you to compare the routes with stated distances by length and intended use. Check seasonal conditions before setting out.
The Sentiero Rio Valorz can be reached via the SP86 della Val di Rabbi; parking is available near the San Bernardo information office. As road and parking conditions may change, check the current situation before travelling.
Parish church and local history
The parish church of San Bernardo was built between 1956 and 1959 to a design by architect Efrem Ferrari. For those interested in architecture, both the construction period and the architect are clearly identified. The church offers a different cultural perspective from the Sentiero Valorz, whose theme is art and culture.
