Lasino: Heritage and Trails
Accommodation in Lasino
In Lasino, traces of local history meet churches, art and trails in the surrounding area. The town preserves evidence of an ancient Roman settlement and has numerous medieval and Renaissance houses. Those looking for a destination with historical interest and a range of walking options will find several places to start exploring here.
Manor House, Townscape and Art
The Villa Ciani-Bassetti complex is a historic example of a manor house and agricultural estate with a park. It is integrated into Lasino’s urban fabric. Walks through the streets lead to the exterior of the villa and connect the building with the townscape, without requiring a visit to the interior.
The historic centre also features several murals and three works by sculptor Francesco Trentini: the Fontana Lagolo, the bust of Roberto Bassetti and the Monumento ai Caduti. The works differ in form and in their connection to the town; together with the older houses, they add another cultural dimension to the centre.
Museum and Churches
The “La dona de 'sti ani” Museum is housed in the vaulted rooms of Madruzzo Town Hall at Piazza Alcide Degasperi 25 in Lasino. It recreates a kitchen, a bedroom and a storeroom with numerous objects from the past. A dedicated room is set aside for workshops that bring traditions back to life.
The church of Santi Pietro e Paolo houses the altarpiece “Riposo durante la fuga in Egitto” by Andrea Pozzo. The Cappella del Santo Crocifisso dates back to 1707. Its large crucifix was carried in processions to pray for rain during periods of drought—a traditional religious practice that illustrates the chapel’s connection to local history.
The Via Crucis di San Siro in Lasino was inaugurated on 9 May 1937. Each of its stations contains an original plaster panel depicting a moment from the Passion of Christ. Another sacred site is the church of San Siro on a hill near Lasino: its frescoes, dating from the 1370s, depict the twelve apostles, Christ Pantocrator, the four Evangelists and a bishop who is thought to represent San Siro. The hill offers views over Lasino and the entire Valle di Cavedine.
Routes and Outdoor Activities
The “Anello Calavino - Lasino - Castel Madruzzo” circular route passes through the historic centre and continues to the church of San Pietro. On the loop, hikers can also follow a forest path to the church of San Siro near Lasino. A second local route, “Lasino and the Bassetti Family”, starts in the centre. These two descriptions provide different points of reference for routes that start in or pass through Lasino.
Nearby, the San Siro climbing area has 60 equipped routes. Monte Bondone is also a defining feature of the area: Lasino lies at its foot, and the mountain is also known as Alpe di Trento. It can be reached on foot from Lasino in about two hours. This is an approximate duration, as the route and walking time may vary. From the summit of Monte Bondone, 360-degree views extend across the mountains of Trentino and South Tyrol.
Wine Growing and Tastings
Azienda Agricola Pravis grows numerous native grape varieties, particularly Nosiola; endangered varieties such as Negrara have also been cultivated again. One tasting option at Cantina Pravis includes Vino Santo Trentino, which is designated a Slow Food Presidium. The items included in the tasting offer may change. Wine growing and cultural history are two distinct themes to consider when planning a stay in Lasino.
