When looking for a hotel in Tiers at the Rosengarten, you can choose your destination based on the themes that matter to you: alpine trails, natural scenery or historic buildings. In Tiers, these themes come together at specific destinations such as the Tschamin Valley, viewpoints and chapels.

Hiking, Landscapes and Excursion Destinations

Tiers at the Rosengarten lies at the foot of the Rosengarten massif. Numerous hiking trails and alpine routes lead from Tiers to the Rosengarten; the Tschamin Valley lies between the Schlern and Rosengarten massifs. Tiers also played an important role in the early development of mountaineering in South Tyrol. The landscape and its trails are therefore at the heart of many possible excursions.

One specific destination in the Tschamin Valley is the Rechter Leger, a particularly beautiful viewpoint and resting place. The hike “Into the Tschamin Valley to the Rechter Leger” starts at the Steger Säge at the entrance to the Tschamin Valley. The hike to the Grasleitenhütte starts elsewhere, at the roundabout in Weißlahnbad; the ascent leads to the hut at an altitude of 2,165 m. These different starting points and destinations give you a clear guide when choosing a tour.

The Cabrio cable car offers another connection to the mountain world: it connects Tiers at the Rosengarten with the mountains of the Rosengarten and takes visitors to the Carezza Dolomites ski and hiking area in seven minutes. The Tiers CallBus has more than 20 stops and connects the village center with St. Zyprian, WeiĂźlahnbad and OberstraĂźe, among other places.

For families and children, the “Wald & Wasser” nature trail leads to 20 stations. The circular trail starts and ends at the valley station of the Tiers cable car. Family-run mountain huts along the hiking trails also invite you to stop for a break and serve South Tyrolean specialties.

The Wuhnleger is a pond in Tiers and a viewpoint for watching the alpenglow on the Rosengarten. The municipal calendar lists a sunset hike there for September and October 2026, including a small, typical South Tyrolean Marende snack. The 2026 hiking program also includes a guided hike via TaltbĂĽhl to the protected Totmoos biotope. For these time-specific activities, it is advisable to check the dates in advance; for the TaltbĂĽhl activity, also check the booking conditions.

Chapels and Historic Traces

The small St. Zyprian Chapel is a late Romanesque building with a barrel vault, a semicircular apse and a low tower. Its 17th-century exterior frescoes depict the miraculous rescue of the Platzlinderwiese. The chapel can only be viewed from the outside; the interior is not accessible. The Historical Walk starts at St. Zyprian and passes eleven sites of historical interest in Tiers.

Another chapel with a historical connection is St. Sebastian. Its origins date back to a vow made about 400 years ago, when the plague reached Tiers. A meditation trail leads from the center of Tiers to St. Sebastian Chapel. The Historical Walk and the meditation trail thus offer two routes with different destinations and areas of focus.

The Steger Säge is another notable historical site: it is a now-rare example of a water-powered Venetian sawmill. Its location at the entrance to the Tschamin Valley is also the starting point for the hike to the Rechter Leger.
