Petrosino offers a range of options for your trip: beaches and the sea, historic buildings, festivals and winemaking. If you’re looking for a hotel in Petrosino, you can plan your stay around whichever of these aspects interests you most. The coastal areas sit alongside a rural landscape and a rich history.

Beaches and Activities by the Sea

Torrazza Beach lies on a wide, scenic bay with clear water and is designated as a free public beach. Check the current access conditions before your visit. The coast at Sibiliana is also a free public beach; it lies on the boundary between the municipalities of Petrosino and Marsala. Biscione, meanwhile, was once an old seafaring village and is now a holiday area.

There are several diving options along the coast at Biscione, with descents to depths of 10 to 60 metres. The sea around Petrosino is also suitable for sailing trips. This lets you choose how to balance your interests on the water: the diving options mentioned are at Biscione, while the sailing trips take place on the sea around Petrosino.

Churches and Historic Buildings

The Church of Maria Santissima delle Grazie was built in 1745. Its patron saint’s festival, the Festa della Patrona Maria SS. delle Grazie, is celebrated every year at the end of May with a procession carrying the simulacrum. The festival date is a separate reason to include Petrosino’s religious traditions in your travel plans.

Baglio Woodhouse was built by John Woodhouse in 1813. Its surviving original features include the entrance portal and frescoes on the upper floor depicting grapevines. Baglio Spanò was built between 1873 and 1882 by the Marquis Nicolò Spanò of Marsala. Its square floor plan and two interconnected courtyards give the building a distinct, easily recognisable form.

The Church of San Giuseppe is a 19th-century church originally planned as a private chapel for the Marquis Spanò. Its Neoclassical façade is defined by tall pilasters, a moulded cornice and a triangular pediment. On the coast, Torre Sibiliana served as a lookout post from which to spot pirates approaching from the sea.

Festivals and Rural Heritage

The traditional Invito di San Giuseppe takes place every year on 19 March in front of the church in the district of the same name. In August, the Festa di chianura brings the streets of Chianu Parrini to life: local and international folk groups revive aspects of life in the area’s former farming and maritime communities. If you’d like to plan your trip around a festival, check the specific event dates.

Two truncated-cone windmills built in the 19th century still stand in Petrosino. They recall the area’s former role in grain milling. The Museo della civiltà contadina is located in the local middle school of the Istituto Comprensivo “G. Nosengo”. It preserves tools and objects documenting techniques used in agriculture, workshops and households. If you’re planning to visit the museum, it’s a good idea to ask about visiting arrangements in advance.

Winemaking is also part of Petrosino’s rural character: local grape varieties include Grillo and Catarratto, which are used to produce Marsala wine. The Sagra dell'uva e del vino takes place between September and October and includes wine tastings. As well as historic buildings and festivals, winemaking and farming traditions offer further themes to explore during your stay.

Coastal Landscape and Migratory Birds

Margi Spanò is one of the coastal wetlands in the Petrosino area. The coastal wetlands are designated as SIC and ZPS sites and are important for the passage of migratory birds. This natural environment adds another perspective on the coast alongside its beaches and sea.
