Falcone combines a coastal landscape with a plain, gently rising green hills and several historical landmarks. The journey there and two annual events may also influence your choice of when to travel. When planning a stay, you can consider the town in terms of its landscape, culture, season and transport connections before choosing a hotel.

Coast and Hinterland

The coast has deep sandy beaches, including one with a crescent shape. Inland, a plain gives way to gently rising green hills. This sequence defines Falcone’s landscape: the coast and hinterland stand out as distinct aspects of the town. Belvedere, a district among olive groves, is also part of the landscape. If you would like to consider both beaches and green hills when choosing a destination, Falcone offers these two clearly identifiable landscape features.

Culture and Historical Traces

A prominent landmark is the Chiesa Madre San Giovanni Battista. It was built in 1906 in honor of the patron saint, San Giovanni Battista; the church is also home to the significant work of art “Trasfigurazione.” Other historical landmarks point to different periods. In Contrada Giglione, there is a necropolis dating from the 3rd millennium BC. Ardichello in Falcone is associated with a necropolis from the Hellenistic-Roman period. The fortress in Belvedere dates from 1038 to 1043. The dates therefore span from the 3rd millennium BC through the Hellenistic-Roman period and the years 1038 to 1043, up to the church built in 1906. Falcone’s cultural landmarks clearly belong to different eras.

Routes to Falcone and Tindari

The routes also differ. The ancient Trazzera Regia runs through Falcone. The Cammino di Tindari is a separate route: on its way to Tindari, the approximately 80-kilometer-long route passes through the town. While the Trazzera Regia is an ancient road through Falcone, the Cammino is a route with Tindari as its destination. If you include the Cammino in your plans, bear in mind its approximate total length and check the current route, as revisions may be made.

Festivals Throughout the Year

Two recurring events offer different points of reference when choosing when to travel. The Antica Fiera Mercato di Falcone takes place every year in October; the specific dates may vary. The Festeggiamenti in Onore del Santo Patrono San Giovanni Battista are held every year in June in Falcone; exact schedules may also vary. This lets you take the recurring month into account when planning without assuming a fixed event date.

Getting There by Car or Train

Falcone can be reached by car via the A20 Messina–Palermo and the Falcone exit. Regional trains serve Falcone station; for other train connections, use the stations at Milazzo or Patti. These details address different travel-planning needs: for a car journey, the highway and exit are specified, while by train you can distinguish between regional trains to Falcone station and other connections via Milazzo or Patti. Check train connections before departure, as timetables may change.
