Palmadula lies between the sea near Argentiera and the green hills of the Nurra. Several distinct themes shape a stay here: Porto Palmas on the coast, the hill of Punta Lu Pisanu, natural areas with opportunities for walks, and the surrounding agricultural landscape. In summer, the Sagra del Maialetto is another event in the town. This lets you choose between a beach visit, a viewpoint, a nature outing and a seasonal festival.

The coastal path to Porto Palmas

From Palmadula, the route to Porto Palmas first heads towards Argentiera. Follow the signs for about 3 km along the SP18; before the mining village, the Sentiero Costiero Nurra branches off. Continue along the coastal path for about 240 m to Porto Palmas beach and the parking areas beyond it. For navigation, the order is useful: first the road section, then the turn-off, and finally the stretch along the path. Trail conditions and access rules may change; check them before your visit.

Porto Palmas has a small, crescent-shaped beach of medium-coarse, light amber sand mixed with white pebbles. The seabed is shallow and sandy near the shore; this area is considered suitable for families. Beyond the shallow inshore area, divers frequent the rocky sections. The coastal areas described here are therefore distinct: the focus here is on the beach and shallow seabed, while the rocky zones are frequented by divers.

Punta Lu Pisanu and the Nurra landscape

At the edge of Palmadula, an unpaved path climbs to the summit of Punta Lu Pisanu, a hill just outside the town. From there, the view stretches from Argentiera to the cliffs of Stintino. This destination is all about the ascent and the view from the heights, while the route to Porto Palmas leads to the coast. You can therefore choose between an outing with the beach as its destination and one to a viewpoint.

The surrounding area is also worth exploring for its landscape: fields and pastures reflect the Nurra’s agricultural production. Natural areas nearby also offer opportunities for nature outings and walks. This adds a broader option to the two specific destinations: you can make the surrounding area itself the focus of a walk or outing, rather than heading only for the beach or the summit. The green hills, fields and pastures give this part of the area a different character from the coast around Porto Palmas.

A summer event in town

The Sagra del Maialetto takes place every summer in Palmadula. If you would like to combine your trip with the festival, check the dates for that summer. This allows you to take a seasonal event in town into account when choosing your travel dates. It adds another possible focus for your stay alongside the destinations on the coast and in the Nurra.
