Sos Alinos offers several distinct points of interest for a trip: the Stagno di Sos Alinos, coastal destinations nearby, guided and self-guided cycling tours, and the history of the Borgata. Nature watching, beach landscapes, tours and historical sites each offer a different focus.

Wetland, Cove and Coastal Forest

The Stagno di Sos Alinos lies behind Cala Liberotto and is fringed with reeds and agaves. Resident and migratory birds find a habitat there. For anyone interested in birdlife, it offers a specific connection with nature that differs from the coastal landscapes nearby.

Cala Liberotto, an emerald-green cove with coarse golden sand and pale rocks, lies near Sos Alinos. The Oasi di Biderosa encompasses five white-sand coves within an 860-hectare coastal forest. The descriptions emphasize different features: Cala Liberotto is defined by a single cove, its colors and its terrain, while Biderosa is characterized by several coves and the coastal forest.

To protect the environment, the number of visitors to the Oasi di Biderosa is limited; admission and services can be booked online. Take the limit and the need to book into account when planning your visit. From Sos Alinos, you can reach Cala Liberotto via the SS 125 toward Orosei; signs point the way near the entrance to the village.

Cycling Tours and Excursions

Let's Bike Sardinia offers guided and self-guided tours starting from Sos Alinos. The routes head into the hills and toward the sea. One specific option is the Country Bike Tour Around Mount Istiozza: it starts at the provider's shop in Sos Alinos and heads west toward the granite hills. This allows you to consider the choice of tour format separately from the direction of a particular route.

You can book tours and rent bicycles at the shop; specific availability may vary. Sos Alinos is also a meeting point, alongside Orosei, for a 4x4 tour through the Baronìa between the sea and the mountains of the Gulf of Orosei. The meeting is scheduled for 08:30. While the cycling information describes different tour formats and a route direction, the 4x4 tour specifies a particular meeting point and time.

The Borgata’s History and Local Traditions

The premises of the Borgata Sos Alinos were inaugurated in 1962. The rural settlement was established on the initiative of the Cassa di Mezzogiorno and financed with state funds. The Church of Sant'Antonio Abate is located at Piazzale S. Antonio Abate 1, 08028 Sos Alinos, Orosei.

The construction of allegorical floats by residents of the Borgata Sos Alinos began in the early 1980s. The San Giovanni celebration is also associated with specific historical details: in 2014, following the religious ceremony, the saint was taken on an ox cart to the central beach of Cala Liberotto. Local folk groups accompanied the procession in traditional dress.

A celebration in 2014 featured locally produced suckling pig. A tasting of roasted and braised lamb was planned for 2026. Check the program and menu for the relevant edition if you are planning to attend a celebration.
