Sarroch brings together cultural history and landscape in several distinct places. If you are looking for a hotel in Sarroch, this mix may be useful when planning your stay around an event, a historic site or a route. When planning, both the dates of the Festa di Sant’Efisio and the history of the sights and route details for the trails are relevant.

Sant’Efisio and Santa Vittoria

The annual Festa di Sant’Efisio runs from May 1 to 4 and passes through Sarroch. On May 1, the procession reaches the Church of Santa Vittoria, stays there overnight and continues to Pula the following morning. This provides a specific point of reference for a stay during the festival. The church also preserves historic objects: a reliquary from the 18th century and a Lignum Crucis from the 19th century come from the former parish church. They are joined by pieces of church silver and several wooden statues. Santa Vittoria thus brings together the annual festival procession and evidence of the church’s older history.

Villa Siotto and Historic Sites

Villa Siotto is a manor house dating from the early 20th century. Its past includes a fully operational farm that produced large quantities of olive oil and wine, as well as a wide variety of fruit. This historical background gives the villa a different perspective from Sarroch’s nuraghi and churches: here, the focus is on former agricultural production as well as architecture.

Nuraghe Antigori is a fortified Nuragic citadel on a hill, three kilometres north of Sarroch and opposite SARAS. When considering the municipality’s archaeological sites, you can take into account two distinct focal points: the manor house and its agricultural past, and the fortified nuraghe complex on the hill.

Nuraghi and Trails

Nuraghe Sa Domu e s’Orcu can be reached from Sarroch via a signposted route and a footpath of about 300 metres. A historical and nature trail is accessible year-round, leading from the courtyard of Villa Siotto through its park to the nuraghe. It then follows the trails of the Sa Punta hills, offering wide views over the Golfo degli Angeli, as far as the Torre del Diavolo. This ancient coastal tower, dating from the 17th century, stands high above the sea on a steep slope. The route described thus connects the villa, nuraghe, hill trails and coastal tower in a set sequence. It is distinct from the Sant’Efisio procession route.

Sa Marcialonga also leads out of the town centre: this historic recurring event follows a route of about 12.5 kilometres to Procileddu, in the heart of Parco di Gutturu Mannu. The route and its destination give the event a different geographical setting from the trail from Villa Siotto to the Torre del Diavolo.

Parco Pubblico and Trip Planning

Parco Pubblico covers 3.20 hectares of Mediterranean maquis. Numerous waterbirds live around an artificial pond. There is also an amphitheatre where cultural, theatrical and film events take place in summer. The park thus combines natural features with a seasonal cultural programme. If you are planning to visit specifically for a summer event, check the exact dates.

The timing varies: the Festa di Sant’Efisio takes place annually from May 1 to 4, the historical and nature trail is accessible year-round, and the amphitheatre events are held in summer. These differences can help you choose Sarroch based on the occasion and the focus you want for your stay.
