Noasca brings together a range of travel interests: a striking waterfall, a visitor centre with an exhibition on the landscape of Gran Paradiso National Park, and routes through hamlets and high-mountain scenery. When choosing your destination, you can consider whether you would prefer to plan a short walk to a natural attraction, a themed visit or a route with several stops. The attractions differ considerably in character and in the kind of visit they offer.

Waterfall and trail to the Cascata di Noaschetta

The Cascata di Noaschetta is 32 metres high and is formed by the Noaschetta stream. The walk from the parish church to the waterfall takes about 15 minutes. It is easy, marked and straightforward to walk. This provides both a starting point and an approximate duration for the outing.

The route itself also makes the visit special: the access path passes behind the waterfall and below a cave. The Cascata is therefore not just a destination at the end of the path; the route itself is part of the natural experience. As trail conditions can change, check them locally before setting out.

Landscape and wildlife at the visitor centre

At the Le Forme del Paesaggio visitor centre in Noasca, a permanent exhibition explores the geomorphology of Gran Paradiso National Park. The term refers to the shape and development of landforms. The exhibition also shows how these forms relate to the habits of ibex, chamois, marmots and eagles. In this way, it connects the geological perspective with the lives of the animals.

The visitor centre is on the second floor of the town hall and can be reached by stairs or lift. Opening arrangements may change; check the current visiting options before your visit. For children, there is an illustrated comic-style tour. In the adjoining screening room, documentaries produced in the park are shown. As well as the exhibition, the centre therefore offers other ways to explore the landscape and the national park.

Hamlets and high-mountain scenery

The Via delle Frazioni alte – Vallone del Roc passes through the hamlets of Crestet, Varda and Maison. Along the route, you can see a waterfall cascading down from the Roc stream. The old school is in Borgata Maison in the Vallone del Roc, at an altitude of about 1,600 metres. Maison is therefore both one of the hamlets along the route and the location of this historic building; the school itself is in the Borgata.

The Sentiero del Re is also one of the attractions in the Noasca area. If you include it in your plans, check the specific access information before setting out. The route to Bivacco Giraudo crosses a different kind of landscape: impressive high-mountain scenery.

Different focuses for your trip

The Cascata di Noaschetta is defined by its short, approximately 15-minute walk and its distinctive route. The Via delle Frazioni alte focuses on the hamlets and the waterfall formed by the Roc stream, while the route to Bivacco Giraudo crosses high-mountain scenery. The visitor centre complements these walks with a themed exploration of landforms and wildlife. You can choose the focus of your trip according to whether you would like to visit a waterfall, walk through hamlets or learn more about the landscape of the national park.
