If you are looking for a hotel in Cermenate, you can plan your trip around culture, architecture or outdoor activities. The town offers different points of interest: a villa built before 1722, churches with distinctive artistic and architectural features, and parks with cycling and walking routes. For your planning, it is helpful to distinguish between individual sights, a stay in the park and longer routes.

Villa Clerici and Roccolo

Villa Clerici was built before 1722. The Roccolo di Cermenate was built in 1932 and named “Casina Carla”. The dates therefore mark two different points in time for looking at Cermenate’s architectural history. If you are interested in architectural history, comparing the buildings provides a chronological reference point without obscuring their different dates of construction.

Churches with art and distinctive architecture

The Santuario del Crocifisso, also known as the Chiesa di San Vincenzo Martire, houses an image of Saint Bernardino with the Madonna and Child dated to 1473. There is also a wooden crucifix from the 16th century on a silver-plated cross. The Chiesa dei Santi Vito e Modesto was consecrated in 1907. Its floor plan is in the shape of a Latin cross with three naves; the façade has a Baroque appearance. The three naves divide the church interior, while the reference to a Latin cross describes the shape of the floor plan. The churches thus offer different points of interest: at the Santuario, the focus is on dated works of art; at Santi Vito e Modesto, on the floor plan and façade design.

A visit to Parco Scalabrini

Parco Scalabrini covers about 48,000 m² and can be accessed via Via Scalabrini and Via Montessori. Its features include a large playground and numerous tree species, including some centuries-old trees. Cultural, recreational and sporting events are held there mainly in summer, organized by the municipal administration and local associations. If you would like to plan your trip around an event, check the specific event dates.

Cycling and walking routes in Parco del Lura

Cermenate is part of Parco del Lura, a local park of supra-municipal interest established to protect and enhance the valley of the River Lura. The network comprises almost 40 kilometres of cycling and walking routes, divided into three routes. The second cycling and walking route is five kilometres long and runs from Caslino al Piano via the Roccolo to Cermenate. The almost 40 kilometres refer to the entire network, while the five kilometres refer to this route alone. The Parco del Lura circular route can be cycled in one direction and combined with a return journey on Trenord trains, using stations on the Milano–Saronno–Como line. For your travel planning, the difference between these green destinations also comes down to their focus: Parco Scalabrini offers a park with a playground and trees, while Parco del Lura offers a network of several cycling and walking routes.
