Rivoltella brings together historic buildings, a collection on the history of the 20th century and lakeside paths. When planning a stay, this offers a choice between cultural stops and getting active along the shore. The architectural history ranges from a medieval rural predecessor building to churches from the 15th and 16th centuries; cycling and walking routes add a second, active perspective to your stay.

Historic buildings and different periods

Villa Brunati was built at the end of the 16th century by Monsignor Giacomo Roveglio as a holiday residence on an existing medieval rural building. Here, the earlier rural structure and its later use as a residence come together.

The Church of San Biagio dates from the early 15th century. The Chiesetta di San Zeno, also known as the Antica Pieve di Rivoltella, dates from the 16th century; its frescoes date back to the 14th and 15th centuries. The frescoes are therefore dated earlier than the building itself. This difference between the construction date and the interior decoration offers a tangible point of interest for guests interested in art and church history.

The tower of the former Castle of Rivoltella is part of Parco della Torre. Alongside the villa and churches, it adds another link to the town’s earlier history.

Museum and 20th-century history

The Museo XX secolo opened in 2018 and is dedicated to the preservation of museum collections as well as the area’s sociocultural and tourism development. Its collection includes objects dating from the First World War to around 1960. The museum therefore focuses on a particular collection period, while the historic buildings are understood through their dates of construction and former uses. In this way, the museum offers a different chronological focus from the medieval and early modern buildings.

Every year, the Museo XX secolo hosts temporary exhibitions featuring material organized around a common theme. Check the program for your travel dates before your visit so you can plan around the exhibition scheduled at that time.

Cycling and walking routes by the lake

The “Lungolago - Desenzano e Rivoltella” cycling route is 8 km long and follows the lakeshore from the boundary with Lonato to the boundary with Sirmione. It is a good idea to check the current route conditions before setting out, as they may change.

The lakeside route from Desenzano to Sirmione passes through Rivoltella and runs along Viale Francesco Agello there. A lakeside walking path leads to Desenzano. The routes differ in activity and itinerary: you can choose an 8 km cycling route, a lakeside route through Rivoltella or a walking path with Desenzano as its destination. Check current conditions before setting out; route alignments and access may change.
