Bassanega is a hamlet of Tremosine sul Garda, 303 metres above sea level, and the hamlet in the municipality closest to Limone del Garda.

Location and Views

The village lies on the lower slopes of Monte Bestone. At the entrance to the village, there is a viewpoint offering a very wide view of the northern part of the lake. This brings two distinct points of reference together: the hillside location describes where Bassanega lies; the viewpoint draws your gaze towards the northern part of the lake. In the wider regional context, Tremosine sul Garda is in Parco Alto Garda Bresciano. This connects the precise orientation of the village with the wider setting of the municipality.

Walking, Cycling and HelloBus

Bassanega is a starting point for various walking excursions. For cyclists, two routes pass through the village: the mountain bike circuit between Limone sul Garda and Passo Tremalzo, and a cycling route along the Strada della Forra. The routes have different points of reference: the circuit names Limone and Passo Tremalzo, while the other route follows the Strada della Forra. This makes it possible to choose between a circuit and a ride along the named road when planning. Check the route conditions for the mountain bike circuit before setting out.

HelloBus complements this route information with a connection to Limone: the service connects the stops enabled in the Tremosine sul Garda area and also lets you travel there. Check the service page before your trip if you plan to use HelloBus.

Limone del Garda thus plays several roles in orienting yourself around the area: it is the place within Tremosine sul Garda closest to Bassanega, a point of reference on the mountain bike circuit, and a destination reachable by HelloBus. These different roles help you locate Bassanega, understand its cycling routes and plan a bus journey.

Chapels and Local History

The Tamazzo Chapel is a few metres from Bassanega, on the road to Limone, and features a fresco of the Madonna and Child. At the junction of Via Bellavista and Via Apollo 11, there is a wayside shrine built in 1994 and dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes. The two sites have different cultural points of reference: the fresco in the nearby chapel, and the exact junction, construction year and dedication of the shrine.

The Strada della Forra also brings together a route connection and local history. The cycling route along the road passes through Bassanega; the road was officially inaugurated on 18 May 1913 with a grand celebration. The date refers to the road’s inauguration, while the route information places Bassanega along the route. A historical date and a specific route connection thus sit side by side.
