When looking for a hotel for a trip to Framura, you can start by considering which aspects of the town you want to shape your stay: church art and architectural history, the coast, or paths for walkers and cyclists. The sights and activities offer different experiences, so you can tailor your search to your interests without having to focus on any single type of itinerary.

Church Art and History

The Chiesa di San Lorenzo Martire in Castagnola is an old parish church dating from the 13th century and houses an important “Deposizione” by Luca Cambiaso. Bernardo Strozzi’s “Madonna del Rosario con i Santi Domenico e Carlo Borromeo” is in the Chiesa di San Martino. The parish’s history and the different artists provide specific points of interest for a cultural visit; each church is home to its own distinct work.

The watchtower in Costa is a structure from the Carolingian period, dating from the 9th century. At the end of Costa’s Carruggio is the Ospitale of Framura. An inscription on its façade, in Carolingian script, gives the date as December 27, 1400, and attributes the building to Giuliano de Dugo. The two details point to different historical references: the watchtower is dated to the 9th century, while the inscription at the Ospitale gives a date and the builder to whom it is attributed.

Coast, Coves, and Diving

The Porticciolo Turistico di Framura is a starting point for exploring the coast. Framura’s coastline has bathing platforms among red rocks. For orientation, exploring the coast from the Porticciolo and the rocky landscape around the bathing platforms offer different points of interest.

Many coves can only be reached from the sea. Experienced divers can explore wrecks on the seabed off Framura. Swimming in the rocky coves and exploring wrecks therefore appeal to different coastal interests: on one hand, the bathing platforms among the red rocks; on the other, an underwater activity for experienced divers. The fact that many coves are accessible only from the sea is a separate consideration when planning specific coastal destinations.

Paths for Different Plans

Two paths with different profiles are the main options for getting active. Sentiero 650 is well marked and climbs steadily; from the central area of Setta, it takes about 30 to 40 minutes. This time estimate applies to the stated starting area. Ciclopedonale Maremonti follows the route of the old railway, is around 6 km long, and offers a flat, safe route for families, walkers, and cyclists. It passes through old railway tunnels; along the route are open spaces facing the sea and access points to several coastal coves. When comparing the two, keep their different details in mind: for Sentiero 650, the focus is the approximate walking time from Setta; for Maremonti, it is the approximate route length. There is also a contrast between the steady climb and the flat route. This allows you to distinguish between the paths by time, length, and profile.
