Sori offers a range of reasons to stay: a pebble beach along the waterfront, cultural events at the Oratorio Sant’Erasmo, and trails of varying lengths and with different focuses. There are also sailing courses, a natural climbing wall in the hamlet of Canepa, and a train station on the Genoa–La Spezia line. If you are looking for a hotel in Sori, you can first consider whether the beach, culture, outdoor activities or travel by regional train is especially important for your trip.

Beach and cultural history

The beach along Sori’s waterfront is about 340 metres long and consists of small and medium-sized pebbles. Public beach sections alternate with areas operated by bathing establishments. The length is approximate, and management arrangements may also change. So check the local conditions before your beach visit.

The Oratorio Sant’Erasmo was founded in 1495. Following major restoration work, it is now a venue for an active programme of concerts and cultural events. Its historic origins and cultural use therefore go hand in hand. If you are planning to attend a concert, check the dates before your trip, as the programme may change.

Sailing, climbing and hiking

Club Vela Sori runs group sailing courses. It also promotes the Miglio Marino Sorese and the Cimento Invernale each year. Courses and recurring events offer different ways to include sailing in your travel plans. Check the latest information for dates during your stay.

A natural climbing wall is located at Rian Croeua, in Sori’s hamlet of Canepa. For climbing enthusiasts, this provides a distinct activity option alongside the sailing opportunities. Sori’s trails, in turn, vary in duration, length, scenery and destinations.

The Anello del Bado is a short but challenging trail, taking 2 hours and 50 minutes, with about 530 metres of elevation gain. It follows in the footsteps of Napoleonic history. The Antichi mestieri loop is just over 10 kilometres long and leads past Sori’s traditional agro-silvo-pastoral activities. Grain fields and olive and chestnut groves characterise the area. The Sori mozzafiato trail leads from the Pro Loco offices to the summit of Monte di Santa Croce.

I borghi di Sori is an 18.3-kilometre loop through all of Sori’s hamlets and villages; it is considered challenging but fascinating. The routes have different focuses: the Anello del Bado is defined by its duration and elevation gain, Antichi mestieri passes through an agricultural landscape, Sori mozzafiato has a summit as its destination, and I borghi di Sori links the hamlets and villages in a long loop. Trail conditions and waymarking may change; check them before setting out.

Getting there and local specialities

Sori station is on the Genoa–La Spezia railway line and is served by regional trains. Check the timetable when planning your journey, as train services and times may change.

The sea and local cuisine also have specific ties to Sori. Fondali Nervi - Sori is a marine Site of Community Importance in the Province of Genoa. Trofie di Sori is a fresh pasta and a characteristic local product. So, alongside the beach, trails and culture, a marine protected area and a local pasta speciality offer further ways to explore Sori.
