Passo Corese is a district of Fara in Sabina (Rieti) in the Tiber Valley. When planning your trip, local history and event dates can offer different points of reference: historical topics include the campaign in the Agro Romano and memorial sites in the town, alongside specific mountain biking and running events. First consider whether your trip will be shaped mainly by historical interest or by a particular event date.

Getting There and Finding Your Way

Fara Sabina-Montelibretti railway station is located in the Passo Corese district, on the Florence–Rome railway line. If you are considering traveling by train, check the current timetable and station information before departure. The station provides a clear point of reference for planning; specific connections and station arrangements may change.

History and Memorial Sites

Passo Corese played an important role in the 1867 campaign in the Agro Romano. From here, Enrico and Giovanni Cairoli and their 76 companions began their descent along the Tiber on October 22. A separate monument stands at the beginning of Via Garibaldi: the simple structure bears an old inscription whose text is attributed to Giovanni Bovio. Together, these details offer different insights into local history and remembrance, without equating the monument with the historical campaign.

Another memorial site is the commemorative shrine “Edicola in ricordo della Chiesa del Divino Amore di Passo Corese.” It commemorates the Second World War bombings that affected Passo Corese and local families. The shrine stands in the area where the Chiesa del Divino Amore once stood before being destroyed by bombs. Its neo-Gothic contemporary design combines brick and stone; the three plaques are made of marble. It was erected on June 17, 1954. During reconstruction in 2013, the original plaques were preserved. The history of this memorial site and its present-day structure can thus be understood through its distinct, clearly dated phases.

Events and Travel Interests

“Colli della Sabina” is a mountain bike ride held every year on April 25 in Passo Corese. The 14th edition took place in 2025. If you would like to include a future edition in your travel plans, check the current date and edition before your trip. The annual date and the specific edition number answer different questions: April 25 is the recurring date, while the edition number identifies a particular event.

Running events are also part of the events calendar. The 17th Corri Cures is a running race in Passo Corese that winds through the greenery of the Sabine Hills and was included in the 2026 Circuito Run. Passo Corese By Night, by contrast, is a group training run over 5.5 kilometers; this information refers to 2026. A race and a group training run are therefore different formats. If you plan to time your trip around a future run, check in advance whether and when another edition will take place.

If you have a fixed event date in mind, it is therefore advisable to check the latest date information before planning your trip. The historical sites, the annual mountain biking event, and the runs listed for 2026 each offer their own points of reference when deciding what you would like your stay to focus on.
