When planning your stay in Tricesimo, historic architecture, art and public green spaces can offer different points of focus. The churches and historic buildings provide starting points for exploring the town’s cultural history, while the municipal park adds recreation, sport and nature to the picture. A 2025 events programme and a historical connection to white asparagus broaden the town’s story to include music, literature and food culture. When looking for a hotel, you can first decide which of these themes you would like to shape your stay.

Churches and Historic Buildings

The present-day parish church of Santa Maria della Purificazione was consecrated in 1789 and built to a design by the architect Domenico Schiavi of Tolmezzo. The church is first mentioned in a document in 1234; its probable origins date back to the 7th and 8th centuries. This brings three distinct historical details together: its probable origins, its first documented mention and the consecration of the present-day church.

The Chiesa di San Pelagio in Adorgnano features an important fresco cycle by Gian Paolo Thanner, commissioned in 1535. The Chiesa di San Giorgio offers a different historical timeframe: it is one of the oldest churches in Tricesimo, and its present-day architecture has Romanesque origins dating from the 9th to the 12th century. You can thus compare a specifically dated art commission with a broader architectural period.

At Castello Valentinis, a ring of walls with covered passages, bridges and six corner towers remains from the medieval complex. Castello di Tricesimo has been documented since the 13th century.

The exterior areas are listed as open to visitors; a prior request to the Franciscan Sisters is required to visit the upper rooms. Confirm the visiting arrangements before your trip.

Green Spaces and Cultural Experiences

Parco comunale Luigi Tami “Eros” offers a different focus from the historic buildings. This large public green space is intended for recreation, sport and enjoying nature. If you would like to include time outdoors as well as history in your travel plans, the park provides a distinct point of interest.

Estate a Villa Ciceri held its seventh edition in 2025. That year’s programme included two concerts, two author talks with readings and musical interludes, as well as a live book event; the events took place in the park at Villa Ciceri. The combination of concerts and literary events made music and reading two clear themes of that edition.

A Historical Connection to Food Culture

Tricesimo’s white asparagus is also part of the town’s historical story. In 1824, the poet Pietro Zorutti praised its quality and attributed purifying properties to it. This mention connects Tricesimo with a dated culinary theme from the 19th century, adding a different perspective on the town to its architectural and cultural aspects.
