Lignano Riviera combines beaches with cycling routes along the coast, lagoon canals and river courses. Golf and thermal pools add to the leisure options. When choosing a hotel, it helps to decide in advance what you want to focus on during your trip: Would you like to spend time by the sea, plan a bike ride, or include golf and wellness? The features of the area offer concrete, distinct points of reference to help you decide.

Beach and landscape by the Tagliamento

The beach in Lignano Riviera is divided into five sections, each with its own beach bar. Altogether, there are about 3,000 widely spaced parasols. Each bar is assigned to one section, while the approximate number of parasols applies to the beach as a whole. For choosing a location with the beach in mind, both the sections and the distribution of parasols are concrete features to consider.

Municipal environmental information updated on December 13, 2023, notes that just behind Lignano Riviera, at the mouth of the Tagliamento Delta, there are about thirty dune ridges interrupted by hollows. The hollows break up the ridges, making the changing terrain directly behind the town easy to see. This landscape offers a different focus from the five beach sections: if you would also like to consider the shape of the coastal area, in addition to the seaside, you can treat the dunes and hollows as a distinct natural feature.

Cycling between the coast and rivers

The cycling and walking loop along the coast of Lignano and Bibione (R029) passes lagoon canals around Lignano. From spring to autumn, it includes a bicycle ferry between Lignano Riviera and Bibione-Punta Tagliamento. Check the specific operating days of this seasonal connection before setting out. The Ring of Two Rivers cycling tour (R044) reaches Lignano Riviera from Lignano Sabbiadoro via urban cycling routes and follows the courses of the Tagliamento and Stella rivers. The difference is clear when choosing a route: R029 connects the coast and lagoon canals with a seasonal ferry link, while R044 leads from Lignano Sabbiadoro to Lignano Riviera via urban cycling routes and follows the courses of the Tagliamento and Stella rivers.

Golf and thermal pools

Golf is another distinct leisure focus: Golf Club Lignano has 18 holes set among water features and the lush vegetation of the pine forest. If golf is an important part of your stay, both the number of holes and the landscape between the water and the pines are concrete points of reference.

The thermal pools at Riviera Resort cover a total area of 3,000 m²; 1,500 m² of this consists of outdoor seawater pools, freely accessible and offering direct views of the sea. The outdoor area therefore accounts for half of the total, while the seawater, open-air setting and sea views are defining features of these pools.

An accessible route

The paved cycling and walking path Itinerario n. 5 – Lungo l'acqua dolce is accessible to people with limited or no mobility and is equipped with benches for restful breaks. For your plans, it is a separate option from the loop routes, with a focus on accessibility and opportunities to take a break on the benches.
