Villa Inferno
Accommodation in Villa Inferno
Villa Inferno brings together neoclassical church architecture and the history of salt inspection posts with puppet and figure theatre. Events with their own historical or cultural connections add to this. When planning your trip, it helps to distinguish between cultural history and collections on the one hand, and events with specific dates on the other.
Cultural history in Villa Inferno
The Chiesa di Sant'Andrea Apostolo was built in the neoclassical style. It is listed at Via Sant'Andrea 6, 48015 Villa Inferno RA. The parish is listed as suppressed in the directory of the Archdiocese of Ravenna-Cervia.
The Casello Cesena salt inspection post is located in Villa Inferno. The Caselli di Controllo del Sale were inspection posts for salt production and trade. Their history therefore encompasses two sides of the same economic sector: producing and trading salt. Unlike the museum, the focus at the Casello is on the role of the inspection posts.
The Museo dei Burattini e delle Figure is located at Via Beneficio II tronco 12 in Villa Inferno. Its historical section includes Padanian puppets from the late 19th century, old stage manuscripts and stage props. The museum also has a Javanese shadow theatre from the late 19th century, with a complete collection of hand-cut, hand-painted leather silhouettes. The puppets and shadow theatre date from the same period, but differ markedly in form. In this way, two different types of figure theatre sit alongside written and material records of stage performances.
Events with their own time frame
La Divina, held in 2026, is a non-competitive historical reenactment featuring bicycles built before 1987 and period clothing. The long-distance cycling event passes through Villa Inferno. Riders follow FIAB leaders at a controlled pace. Check the event dates before planning your trip around it.
A local report from 2025 traces the origins of the Zen Circus gatherings back to 2006. At the time, the band came across a road sign bearing the words “Villa Inferno.” This encounter led to a series of gatherings that took place every two years and became a tradition in Villa Inferno. This story reflects a different event connection from La Divina's historical cycling theme.
The 2025 municipal program included the “Ogni campagna è illuminata” series, with four open-air film screenings in the Cervia countryside. On Thursday, July 17, at 9 p.m., “Encanto” (USA, 2021) was shown at Parco Villa Inferno in Villa Inferno di Cervia.
